Senior / Principal Python Engineer (LegalTech / Document Intelligence) Offline
About SpeedyContracts
SpeedyContracts is a B2B LegalTech platform automating complex contract lifecycles, counterparty verification (KYC/KYB), and high-volume legal document processing. We help mid-market and enterprise teams eliminate manual legal bottlenecks by turning unstructured agreements and compliance documents into structured, actionable data in seconds.
The Role & Engineering Challenge
We are moving past the initial MVP stage into high-volume enterprise scale. We aren’t looking for a "ticket closer"—we need a Senior or Principal Backend Engineer who can own the architecture of our core document ingestion and KYC verification engines end-to-end.
Right now, our main bottlenecks revolve around scaling asynchronous document parsing pipelines, integrating third-party KYC/AML providers with zero data loss, and gradually decoupling heavy workloads from our core Django monolith into high-throughput FastAPI microservices on AWS.
What You’ll Own:
- Core Backend & Architecture: Design, build, and scale resilient backend services using Python (Django & FastAPI). Make pragmatic architectural decisions on where to keep logic in the monolith vs. extracting into async services.
- Document Processing & KYC Pipelines: Architect fault-tolerant ingestion pipelines (OCR, PDF data extraction, LLM/RAG-based clause analysis) and real-time integrations with external KYC/KYB and e-signature providers.
- Cloud & Performance: Manage and optimize our production infrastructure on AWS (ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, SQS), ensuring strict data isolation, encryption, and compliance (SOC-2 / GDPR readiness).
- Database Optimization: Tune complex PostgreSQL queries, manage zero-downtime migrations, and handle high-concurrency webhook streams.
- Technical Leadership: Establish engineering standards, review critical code, and work directly with the founding team to translate business risks into clean technical roadmaps.
What We’re Looking For:
- 7+ years of production software engineering experience with deep expertise in Python.
- Proven production track record with both Django (monolith scaling, ORM optimization) and FastAPI (async I/O, high-concurrency APIs).
- Hands-on experience designing and operating cloud-native architectures on AWS (S3, SQS/SNS, Lambda, ECS, RDS).
- Deep understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL), background job processing (Celery / Redis), and idempotent webhook architectures.
- Experience with document parsing (OCR, AWS Textract, PDF manipulation) or production LLM/RAG pipelines for data extraction is a massive plus.
- Product mindset: you push back on specs that don’t make sense and care about unit economics and system reliability.
What We Offer:
- Zero enterprise bureaucracy—direct communication with decision-makers, high autonomy, and ownership over the technical stack.
- Fully remote setup with flexible hours focused on results, not time-tracking.
To Apply: Instead of a generic cover letter, briefly share 1–2 sentences about the most complex backend bottleneck, third-party integration, or document/AI pipeline you’ve architected in production.
