About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Python Engineer to join an international product engineering team.

This is a hands-on role focused on designing, developing, and maintaining backend applications and services, improving existing systems, and delivering new functionality.

You will work primarily with Python, modern backend frameworks, cloud technologies, and distributed systems. You will participate in technical design discussions, influence engineering decisions, and take ownership of solutions throughout the development lifecycle.

A key aspect of this role is the practical use of AI-assisted development tools and coding agents. We are looking for an engineer who has already incorporated these technologies into their daily workflow and can use them effectively to improve development efficiency and code quality.

Although backend development is the primary focus, we value a flexible mindset and an openness to occasionally contributing to adjacent technical areas, including frontend development and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Python backend services, including microservices built with FastAPI.
• Design and evolve APIs for internal services and external integrations.
• Improve the reliability and scalability of service-to-service communication, messaging, and data flows.
• Contribute to architectural decisions, design reviews, and the delivery of new features.
• Build and maintain production AI-powered functionality, including LLM integrations and prompt-based workflows where relevant.
• Improve testing, observability, performance, and operational reliability.
• Investigate defects and maintain existing functionality throughout the development lifecycle.
• Collaborate across teams and repositories to deliver changes spanning multiple services.

• Use AI-assisted coding tools in daily development and help establish effective practices for their use.

   

Required Competencies and Skills

• 5+ years of professional backend development experience with Python.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and microservices architecture.
• Solid experience developing enterprise-grade web services with Python frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, or similar.
• Hands-on experience designing and developing APIs, integrating services, and implementing service-to-service communication.
• Experience with asynchronous messaging systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS SQS, or similar technologies.
• Practical experience building, deploying, and maintaining cloud-based applications on AWS, including the use of managed services.
• Experience working with Docker and containerized environments.
• Extensive hands-on experience with AI-powered development tools and coding agents as an integral part of the daily software development workflow—not merely as occasional assistants.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership of technical decisions, and drive tasks from design through implementation and delivery.
• Excellent English communication skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience implementing AI-powered application functionality, integrating LLM-based solutions, or working with AI models.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and modern deployment practices.
• Experience developing and maintaining data-intensive applications or services that process substantial volumes of information.
• Exposure to frontend development, particularly Angular, alongside strong backend expertise.
• Experience contributing to cloud infrastructure, deployment automation, or other platform-related improvements.
• Previous technical leadership experience or an interest in gradually taking on responsibilities beyond individual contribution.
