Senior DS / Tech Lead (With Growth path to Team Lead)

Dataforest are seeking a Senior Data Scientist / Tech Lead who is deeply focused on engineering and technology while looking to expand into leadership. In this role, you will focus on designing advanced AI/ML architectures, writing clean production code, and guiding a small cross-functional team of 3–4 engineers. This position offers a direct growth path to step up into a full Team Lead role as the team expands.
 

What you’ll do:

• Hands-on Development & Architecture: Design and build AI/DS architectures, write clean, maintainable Python code, and implement advanced ML/LLM solutions.
• Technical Leadership: Lead and mentor a small group of 3–4 developers, perform code reviews, and ensure engineering excellence.
• R&D & Innovation: Research and evaluate new technologies (LLM, RAG, Agentic workflows) and build Proofs of Concept (PoCs) for client projects.
• Process & Career Growth: Gradually take on managerial responsibilities (sprint planning, task estimation, 1-on-1s) with the explicit opportunity to grow into a Team Lead position.
   

 You'll be a great fit if you have:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in Data Science and Machine Learning.
• Tech-First Mindset: Strong technical background with a primary focus on engineering, architecture, and technology execution.
• Small Team Experience: Prior experience in mentoring, leading code reviews, or guiding a small team of 3–4 engineers.
• AI & LLM Stack:
  • Hands-on expertise with LLM, RAG, LangChain, LangGraph, and modern AI frameworks.
  • Solid knowledge of Python, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Leadership Ambition: Strong interest in growing leadership and managerial skills over time.
• English: Upper-Intermediate (B2).
