React Native Developer

This position is with a US-based software company providing custom development and AI implementation for North American clients. The team builds and maintains production software and works in long-term client engagements. Team members operate as part of an internal, distributed team and collaborate directly with client stakeholders.
 

About the Role

We are looking for a React Native Developer with 1.5-2+ years of commercial experience to join our mobile development team. You will build, maintain, and improve cross-platform mobile applications using React Native and Expo. You will work closely with the Head of React Native and communicate directly with US-based clients.
 

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience developing mobile applications, can independently handle tasks within their level of expertise, and knows how to troubleshoot mobile-specific issues and optimize application performance.
 

What You Will Do

• Build and maintain cross-platform mobile applications using React Native, Expo, and TypeScript.
• Implement new features, integrate REST APIs and third-party services, and maintain existing code.
• Develop responsive interfaces and ensure a consistent user experience across iOS and Android.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, improve application stability, and maintain code quality.
• Investigate platform-specific issues, handle permissions, and troubleshoot native-related problems and build failures.
• Work with Expo EAS Build and support application builds and releases.
• Participate in code reviews, discuss technical decisions, and collaborate with the Head of React Native.
• Communicate directly with US-based clients to clarify requirements, discuss implementation details, and provide updates on development tasks.
   

Requirements

• 1.5–2+ years of commercial experience in React Native development, preferably with Expo.
• Strong knowledge of React Hooks, component lifecycle, and TypeScript.
• Hands-on experience with React Navigation and/or Expo Router.
• Understanding of iOS and Android differences, Platform.OS, and permission handling.
• Experience integrating REST APIs and working with asynchronous data.
• Understanding of state management approaches and experience with AsyncStorage.
• Experience with Expo EAS Build and familiarity with App Store Connect and Google Play Console.
• Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines, Git, and mobile app versioning, including buildNumber and versionCode.
• Basic understanding of Bridge, JSI, and Fabric and their purpose.
• Upper-Intermediate English (B2) or higher for direct written and verbal communication with US-based clients.
• Ability to work independently on assigned tasks, troubleshoot technical issues, and explain technical decisions.
   

Nice to Have

• Experience with react-native-reanimated and react-native-gesture-handler.
• Knowledge of UI optimization and performance profiling.
• Hands-on experience implementing push notifications using expo-notifications.
• Experience integrating authentication providers such as Google, Apple, and Facebook.
• Experience with Firebase Analytics or similar analytics tools.
• Experience working with GraphQL APIs.
• At least one mobile application released to production through the App Store or Google Play.
