Senior Python Engineer

Our team has successfully completed hundreds of projects for international clients from the USA, Canada, Germany, Israel, Poland, Singapore, and more. We have strong expertise in GPS/geolocation, Google Maps, payment systems, social media integration, navigation, 3rd-party APIs, as well as AR/VR/MR applications for mobile devices, smart glasses, and headsets.

We are looking for a Senior Python Engineer with strong backend, architecture assessment, and application security expertise to assess an existing microservices platform built with Python and FastAPI.
The project involves reviewing the codebase, establishing a security baseline, assessing the platform's readiness for further development, and preparing technical reports, effort estimates, and a prioritised roadmap. The engagement is expected to last approximately 8–9 weeks, with a possibility of extension.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assess an existing Python codebase across multiple repositories and identify technical risks;
- Verify how the published source code compares with the Docker images currently in use;
- Assess application security and establish a security baseline;
- Evaluate the platform's microservices architecture, including event-driven communication and data storage;
- Estimate the effort required to maintain and extend the platform;
- Prepare technical reports and a prioritised roadmap with recommendations;
- Collaborate with a DevOps engineer throughout the assessment.

About you:
- 6+ years of Python, including production FastAPI, SQLAlchemy/Alembic and gRPC;
- Strong application-security background: deserialisation, code injection, JWT/OIDC (Keycloak a plus), CORS;
- Comfortable with Docker/OCI internals: image layers, registries, inspecting images without running them;
- Has designed or assessed event-driven microservices (Kafka) with polyglot storage (Postgres, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Redis, S3-compatible storage);
- Has assessed an unfamiliar codebase across many repositories and turned the findings into effort estimates;
- Clear technical writing that also reaches non-technical readers. Your reports are the deliverable;
- Upper-Intermediate English or higher (B2+);

Nice to have:
- Camunda/Zeebe or Airflow, OPA, ArangoDB;
- Supply-chain security, Python packaging (uv);
- Experience with technical due diligence, code audits or modernisation roadmaps;
