AI Agent / Conversational AI Engineer

We are looking for an experienced AI Agent / Conversational AI Engineer to design, implement, test, and deploy production-ready AI agents and conversational workflows. 

In this role, you will bridge cutting-edge conversational AI technologies with robust backend engineering, resilient API integrations, and auditable production processes.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement AI agents and conversational workflows, from prompt and flow design to tool and function calling.
• Develop and integrate backend services and REST APIs using Python and/or Node.js/TypeScript.
• Build robust API integrations covering authentication, webhooks, retries, idempotency, rate limits, and error handling.
• Design JSON schemas, structured responses, and clear data contracts between the agent platform and backend systems.
• Systematically test agents before go-live, including multi-step conversations, ambiguous inputs, and critical tool-call scenarios.
• Perform staged or shadow-mode validation and transition changes into production in a controlled manner.
• Analyze agent behavior using logs and traces, identify root causes, and implement improvements.
• Ensure compliant, auditable processes and maintain clear, traceable technical documentation.

Must have

• Hands-on experience building AI agents or conversational workflows on a suitable platform.
• Strong backend development skills in Python and/or Node.js/TypeScript and experience with REST APIs.
• Solid understanding of API authentication, webhooks, and resilient integration patterns.
• Experience working with structured data, JSON schemas, and defined data contracts.
• Practical experience in agent testing, QA, and debugging.
• Strong written communication skills and the ability to produce structured technical documentation.

Nice to have

• Experience with CRM, ticketing, or CMS systems as well as messaging and email infrastructure.
• Knowledge of compliance-sensitive automation and the implementation of auditable processes.
• Experience with hosting, infrastructure, Trust & Safety, or abuse-handling processes.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in a remote setup.
