C++ System Engineer (Chromium fork)
We're looking for an experienced C++ System Engineer to build, customize and maintain our own Chromium-based browser fork. The role involves working with Chromium source code, deep modification for specific business needs, performance optimization and setting up the infrastructure for regular upstream updates.
Responsibilities
- Build clean Chromium from scratch for Windows, macOS and Linux.
- Modify Chromium source: strip Google telemetry, customize the network stack, control fingerprint generation algorithms.
- Set up and optimize CI/CD pipelines for automated browser builds and testing.
- Regularly port security patches and new releases from the main Chromium branch (upstream updates).
- Profile, find and fix memory leaks, optimize performance.
Requirements
- 3+ years of commercial C++ development (C++17/20).
- Hands-on experience with Chromium, CEF or WebKit architecture and source code.
- Deep understanding of multi-process browser architecture: IPC, sandbox.
- Confident with depot_tools, GN, Ninja.
- Experience with large monorepos in Git, complex merge/rebase conflicts.
- Understanding of network protocols: HTTP/S, WebSockets, WebRTC, SSL/TLS, proxy handling.
Nice to have
- Background in CyberSecurity, AdTech or anti-detect browsers.
- Own powerful workstation for local builds, or experience with cloud build servers (AWS/GCP).
- Experience optimizing V8 or Blink.
