Android Engineer

Schedule is shifted to morning hours since the team is based in Australia. The working day starts at 7:00–8:00 AM EEST (GMT+3).

On behalf of our Client from Australia, Mobilunity is looking for an Android Engineer.

Our client is a global digital wellness company that develops a popular fitness and lifestyle platform for women. The product combines personalised workout programs, wellness and nutrition content, and progress-tracking features, serving a large international user base across multiple markets and languages.

What You Will Be Doing:

• Develop and maintain features for Android application
• Take ownership of clearly defined features from requirements through implementation and delivery
• Work alongside the existing Android and iOS developers to deliver features in parallel
• Collaborate with the wider engineering team through code reviews, planning and technical discussions
• Debug, test and improve existing functionality and production code
• Maintain a high-quality, reliable Android application and help ensure feature parity with iOS
• Work effectively in a distributed, asynchronous environment with colleagues acrossdifferent time zones

Requirements:

• 5+ years of professional Android development experience
• Strong Kotlin skills and solid knowledge of the Android SDK
• Experience building and maintaining production Android applications
• Good understanding of Android Jetpack / Jetpack libraries, including components such as ViewModel, Navigation and Room
• Experience with Jetpack Compose and/or modern Android UI development.
• Solid understanding of Android architecture patterns such as MVVM / Clean Architecture
• Experience working with REST APIs, JSON and common networking libraries such as Retrofit/OkHttp
• Experience with Git and standard software development workflows
• Understanding of Android testing, debugging and performance optimization
• Previous experience building fitness, health, wellness, or other consumer mobile applications
• Ability to work independently on clearly defined features without requiring constant supervision
• Upper-intermediate to advanced English proficiency
