Lead QA Engineer

$$$$

We're looking for a Lead QA Engineer to own quality across a mobile feed product spanning iOS, Android, and a Go backend. You'll sit in the release path for every feature, bug fix, and A/B variant, making sure nothing ships without being rigorously tested first. This is a hands-on role: you'll be running test suites, managing CI/CD and release tooling, and reading code yourself to understand what actually changed, not just working from a spec. The environment moves fast, so you'll also need to be comfortable smoke-testing incident fixes quickly to unblock releases without cutting corners on safety. You'll work across the full stack, verifying tracking events and A/B test variants on the mobile side while also testing backend behavior in Go. This is a role for someone who wants deep, end-to-end ownership of quality inside a startup that ships constantly.

Details:
Schedule: Full time
Location: Sofia, Bulgaria (Onsite, 5 days a week)
Start: ASAP
Duration: Long-term
English: Fluent

About the project:
The company is building a mobile app with a TikTok-style feed of short, AI-generated browser games created by users. It's an early-stage startup moving at a rapid release cadence, shipping features, bug fixes, and A/B test variants continuously rather than on long cycles. Quality currently rests on how thoroughly each release is tested before it goes out, which is why this role is being built out as a dedicated, owned function rather than something spread thin across the team. The product spans a full stack: mobile clients on iOS and Android, and a Go backend behind them, so testing has to cover both the client experience and the systems underneath it. Because the product runs on experimentation, verifying tracking events and A/B variants correctly is a core part of keeping releases trustworthy. The team is small and fast-moving, so this role carries direct ownership of the release path rather than slotting into an established QA process.

You have:
- Professional QA experience covering both mobile apps (iOS and Android) and backend systems
- Hands-on experience running test suites and working with CI/CD, bug tracking, and analytics tooling โ€” not manual testing alone
- The ability to read and understand code to verify changes, even without writing features yourself
- Ideally, experience QA-ing feature-flagged or A/B-tested mobile products
- Ideally, familiarity with Go or broader backend testing experience
- Ideally, experience with mobile release tooling such as TestFlight or Play Console internal tracks
- Ideally, a background in startups, hyper-casual gaming, or other fast-release-cadence environments
- Willingness to work full-time, strictly on-site in Sofia, Bulgaria

What to do:
- Own quality end-to-end across iOS, Android, and the Go backend
- Run test suites and manage CI/CD and release tooling ahead of every release
- Read and review code changes to understand what shipped and verify it behaves as expected
- Smoke-test incident fixes rapidly to unblock releases while balancing speed with safety
- Verify tracking events and A/B test variants are behaving correctly on mobile
- Build out and improve QA process and tooling as the release cadence and product surface grow
