Founding Engineer (Full-Stack, TypeScript)

Midas is a trading app for Base — and for the EVM chains that come after it. Traders use it to find new tokens early and trade them fast, through the web app and through our Telegram bot. It's live and people use it daily.

We're small and early. I'm looking for a founding engineer: someone who takes ownership of the product end to end rather than a slice of it.

What the role is

You'd own the technical side of Midas with me — frontend, backend, the data layer, and the calls about what we build and how. Not tickets handed down. You'd be deciding a lot of it, and shipping it.

What you'd work on

The trading path: quotes, routing, execution, and the latency of all three. This is the product, and speed is most of it.

Real-time market data — Bun + Hono + Socket.IO streaming to the web app and the bot.

Analytics over ClickHouse: wallet PnL, smart-money tracking, holder analysis. The database is 3+ TB and grows with every block, so how you shape a query matters.

The interface traders actually live in — Next.js, real-time, dense.

Multichain: we're adding a second chain now, and more after it.

The problems here are real-time and data-shaped. How fast can we see a new token, how fast can we get someone into it, and how do we compute useful things over a lot of on-chain data without it getting slow.

What we need from you

5+ years TypeScript, strong across frontend and backend.

Solid SQL and an instinct for why a query is slow.

You've built something real-time or latency-sensitive before.

Working knowledge of EVM: reading on-chain logs, decoding calldata, and you know what a swap, a pool and a wallet actually are.

You can decide, build and ship without waiting to be told.

The stack

Backend: Bun, Hono, Effect-TS, viem, ClickHouse, RabbitMQ, Redis

Frontend: Next.js, React, TanStack Query, shadcn, viem/wagmi

Indexer: Rust + reth ExEx

Infra: Docker, Dokploy, Grafana, Loki

You don't need all of it. Effect-TS is niche and we'd expect you to learn it here rather than arrive with it. ClickHouse likewise — if you're good with SQL and think about performance, you'll pick it up.

What would make you stand out

ClickHouse or another OLAP database at real scale.

DeFi: DEX routing, MEV, or awareness of exploit patterns like reentrancy and oracle manipulation — we move user funds, so this matters.

Smart contract development.

Rust, especially blockchain indexing — reth ExEx or similar.

Comfort with Docker, CI/CD, and reading logs when something breaks at 2am.

Being honest with you

We're early. The codebase is real and it works, but there's technical debt and some of it is the kind you'll want to fix in your first month. We're not going to pretend otherwise — you'd be joining to make it better, and you'll have the room to do that.

The team is small enough that what you build ships within days and users notice. If you want process and layers, this isn't it.

Conditions

Full-time, fully remote, flexible hours, mostly overlapping European time.

You work directly with me. No management layers, no handoffs.

Meaningful equity — this is a founding engineer role and it's compensated like one, alongside salary.

Real product decisions, not just implementation.

Full-time means your only full-time job. It's become common enough that I'm saying it explicitly — on a team this small it becomes obvious quickly, and I'd rather be clear now than have that conversation later.
