About the project - inkposter.com
InkPoster is a Wi-Fi–connected digital art frame with a companion mobile app and a cloud backend. You'll test the whole chain: app → API → device.
What you'll do
- Test the iOS and Android apps: functional, regression, UI/UX, cross-device.
- Test the REST API and backend logic (Postman, Charles/Proxyman, reading logs).
- Test device connectivity end to end: BLE pairing, Wi-Fi provisioning, image delivery to the frame, OTA updates, reconnection and offline behaviour.
- Write and maintain test cases and checklists; report and verify bugs in Jira.
- Reproduce field issues on real hardware and work closely with mobile, backend and firmware engineers.
Requirements
- 2+ years in manual QA, ideally with mobile apps.
- Solid understanding of client–server architecture: HTTP/REST, request/response, status codes, JSON, authentication, caching.
- Practical knowledge of networking: Wi-Fi standards and bands (2.4 GHz vs 5 GHz, 802.11 b/g/n/ac/ax), routers, DHCP/DNS, captive portals, signal strength and interference.
- Understanding of Bluetooth and BLE: pairing, GATT basics, typical connection failures.
- Hands-on API testing with Postman or similar; comfortable reading server and device logs.
- Experience testing physical devices / IoT is a strong plus.
- Structured, detail-oriented, able to isolate whether a bug lives in the app, the API or the device.
- English: B1+ (written communication with the team).
Nice to have
- experience with e-ink or consumer hardware, familiarity with MQTT/WebSockets, basic API automation.
We offer
- Fully remote, full-time role in a product team building real hardware.
- Direct impact on a shipping consumer device.
