Senior Mobile Engineer — React Native

About the Role

We’re a lean product team developing a consumer commerce platform that combines real-time 3D interactions with the purchase of physical products. The product also includes a real-money wallet and operational workflows for order processing and fulfillment.

Our technology stack is built entirely around TypeScript. The engineering team is small and experienced, with engineers working closely with and reporting directly to the CTO, allowing for fast communication and decision-making.

We’re looking for a Senior Mobile Engineer to lead the development of a native mobile application for an existing consumer product with rich, real-time 3D interactions.

You’ll take ownership of the React Native application from initial architecture through production release on both iOS and Android. A major part of the role will be translating an existing interactive web experience into a smooth native product, including animations, gestures, and platform-specific functionality.

This is not a mobile-only position. Engineers are encouraged to own features end to end, including the supporting APIs, asynchronous processing, and database changes. The backend is built with Node.js and TypeScript, so experience working beyond the mobile layer is highly valued.

What You'll Do

• Design and develop the mobile application using React Native, Expo, and TypeScript, from initial setup through App Store and Google Play releases.
• Build high-quality animations and gesture-based interactions using tools such as Reanimated, Gesture Handler, and Skia, with a strong focus on smooth performance.
• Implement payment functionality, wallet-related experiences, and reliable synchronization between client-side state and backend financial records.
• Work with native functionality when required, including push notifications, secure storage, media playback, deep linking, and platform-specific payment integrations.
• Own features across the stack when needed: define API contracts, develop Fastify endpoints and background processes, implement the mobile experience, and add appropriate monitoring and instrumentation.
• Establish and maintain the mobile delivery process, including builds, signing, store submissions, OTA updates, and crash reporting using EAS, fastlane, or similar tooling.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of professional mobile development experience, including at least 3 years working with React Native applications released to production.
• Strong TypeScript skills and practical familiarity with Swift and/or Kotlin for debugging, understanding native issues, and implementing platform-specific functionality when necessary.
• Hands-on experience building complex mobile animations and gesture-driven interfaces.
• Understanding of mobile performance and the ability to create responsive, smooth user experiences.
• Practical backend knowledge, ideally including Node.js APIs, relational databases, and asynchronous processing or message queues.
• Ability to take ownership of features beyond the mobile interface and contribute to their server-side implementation is strongly preferred.
• Experience with payments, digital wallets, or other transaction-heavy consumer applications is a significant advantage.

Nice to Have

• Experience with mobile 3D technologies such as Three.js, react-three-fiber, SceneKit, or GPU-accelerated Skia.
• Experience handling complex video and media playback scenarios on mobile.
• Previous experience transforming an established web product into native iOS and Android applications while maintaining a consistent product experience.
