Elixir Developer

We are looking for an experienced Elixir Developer to join our engineering team. You will design, build, and maintain highly concurrent, fault-tolerant, and scalable systems using Elixir and the BEAM ecosystem. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys functional programming, distributed systems, and writing clean, maintainable code that runs reliably in production.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using Elixir and Phoenix (or other Elixir frameworks)
  • Build concurrent, resilient systems leveraging OTP (GenServers, Supervisors, Agents, Tasks, etc.)
  • Write clean, idiomatic, and well-tested Elixir code
  • Collaborate with product, design, and other engineering teams to deliver features end-to-end
  • Optimize performance, reliability, and scalability of existing systems
  • Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical decision-making
  • Debug and troubleshoot production issues in distributed environments
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes, tooling, and best practices
  • Mentor junior developers and share knowledge about Elixir/OTP patterns

Requirements

Must-have

  • Strong professional experience with Elixir (2+ years preferred)
  • Solid understanding of OTP principles and concurrency patterns
  • Experience building production systems with Phoenix (or equivalent frameworks)
  • Proficiency with Ecto and relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred)
  • Experience writing tests (ExUnit, property-based testing is a plus)
  • Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, and modern development workflows
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to code quality
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with distributed systems, clustering, or libraries such as Horde, libcluster, or Oban
  • Knowledge of GraphQL (Absinthe), LiveView, or real-time features
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Familiarity with other BEAM languages (Erlang) or functional languages (Haskell, F#, Scala, etc.)
  • Contributions to open-source Elixir projects
  • Experience with observability tools (Telemetry, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, etc.)
