Simulation Engineer (Python) โ€” Game Math

$$$$

We are looking for a Simulation Engineer (Python) to build and maintain simulation tooling for slot game mathematics within an iGaming product.

You will work closely with a Game Mathematician, turning mathematical specifications into fast, reproducible, config-driven simulations, validating results, and supporting development and QA during game integration.

The mathematical model itself is owned by the Game Mathematician โ€” your focus will be on engineering, simulations, validation, performance, and tooling.

Prior iGaming experience is welcome but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain a config-driven simulation framework for slot games, including reels/weights, paytables, and feature parameters.
  • Make simulation tooling easy to use directly by the Game Mathematician without engineering involvement for every balancing iteration.
  • Run and analyze Monte Carlo simulations to validate RTP, payout distribution, volatility, hit rate, and max win frequency.
  • Analyze simulation convergence, confidence intervals, rare events, and distribution tails.
  • Ensure reproducibility through seeded runs and versioned configurations.
  • Generate validation reports, tables, configurations, and result exports.
  • Cross-check simulation results against analytical calculations and known-answer configurations.
  • Write unit tests for payout calculation logic and regression tests for RTP across configuration changes.
  • Support developers and QA during integration and testing.
  • Investigate and reconcile differences between reference simulations and game engine results.

Requirements

  • Strong Python at an engineering level.
  • Hands-on experience with NumPy, vectorization, profiling, and large data volumes.
  • Experience building maintainable, config-driven and reproducible tooling, not just one-off scripts.
  • Strong knowledge of applied statistics and probability: confidence intervals, convergence, variance, distributions, and rare events.
  • Experience with Monte Carlo simulations or other large-scale computational simulations.
  • Strong testing discipline, including unit and regression testing.
  • Ability to validate simulated results against analytical or expected values.
  • Ability to translate detailed mathematical/technical specifications into reliable software.
  • Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
  • Ability to identify ambiguities in specifications and clarify them before implementation.
  • English Intermediate+.

Nice to Have

  • Previous experience in iGaming, casino games, or slot mathematics.
  • Background in applied probability domains such as quantitative finance, actuarial science, sports betting, computational physics, or operations research.
  • Performance optimization experience with Numba, Cython, C++, or Rust.
  • Experience building visualization/reporting tools for statistical distributions and simulation results.
  • Experience with CI pipelines for computational workloads and automated regression testing.
  • Understanding of iGaming compliance or regulatory requirements.

What We Offer

  • Fully remote work.
  • Opportunity to work on technically challenging iGaming products.
  • Close collaboration with Game Mathematicians, developers, and QA engineers.
  • Complex engineering challenges involving Python, probability, statistics, simulations, and performance optimization.
  • Opportunity to build simulation tooling that directly impacts game development and balancing.
  • International projects and an experienced engineering team.
  • Long-term cooperation and professional growth.
