On behalf of our Client from the US, Mobilunity is looking for a Principal Solutions Architect (Front-End Focused)

We are looking for a Principal Solution Architect to lead multiple engineering teams while remaining actively involved in technical architecture and strategic engineering decisions. 

This role is ideal for an experienced Frontend Architect / Technical Lead who enjoys designing scalable commerce frontends, establishing technical standards, and driving successful delivery across complex, high-traffic ecommerce platforms.

As a Frontend Architect, you will own the technical direction for a distributed delivery team, designing frontend architectures, breaking complex epics into implementable stories, defining coding standards, and resolving technical ambiguity before it reaches a sprint. You will work directly with clients during discovery and sprint planning, partner with engineering leads and senior engineers through design reviews and Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), and collaborate asynchronously across time zones.

The role offers a path toward Principal Architecture, with increasing client-facing strategic influence across the commerce practice.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in frontend architecture and leading distributed engineering teams of 3+ people.
• Strong hands-on experience with Next.js, React, and TypeScript in enterprise-level applications.
• Deep understanding of modern web architecture, including SSR, React Server Components, App Router, edge computing, and serverless patterns.
• Strong expertise in web performance engineering, including Core Web Vitals, CDN configuration, caching strategies, and performance optimization.
• Proven track record of delivering measurable improvements in frontend performance and scalability.
• Experience designing and documenting architectural decisions, including the use of Architecture Decision Records (ADRs).
• Ability to break complex epics into implementable stories with clear acceptance criteria, technical dependencies, and complexity estimates.
• Experience defining coding standards, project conventions, and development practices across engineering teams.
• Strong ability to resolve technical ambiguity, identify architectural risks, and ensure alignment between design and implementation.
• Experience collaborating directly with clients and translating business requirements into scalable and pragmatic technical solutions.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to explain technical trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience establishing effective AI-assisted / agentic development practices, including writing specifications and documentation that enable AI agents to produce reliable, reviewable code.
• Experience working effectively in distributed, async-first Agile teams.

Responsibilities:

• Own the frontend technical direction for a distributed delivery team working on enterprise ecommerce platforms.
• Design and maintain scalable frontend architectures using Next.js, React, and TypeScript.
• Define rendering strategies, state management approaches, caching patterns, and performance best practices.
• Break complex epics into implementable stories with clear acceptance criteria, technical dependencies, and complexity estimates.
• Lead architectural discussions and document key technical decisions through ADRs and other engineering documentation.
• Drive Core Web Vitals and frontend performance, establishing standards that engineers can consistently apply across development and code reviews.
• Define coding standards, project conventions, and architectural guidelines that keep multi-team codebases consistent and maintainable.
• Establish development practices and documentation that enable both engineers and AI agents to work effectively and reliably.
• Collaborate directly with clients during discovery and sprint planning to translate business needs into scalable technical roadmaps.
• Resolve technical ambiguity before development begins, ensuring engineers have clear technical direction before entering a sprint.
• Conduct design and architecture reviews with engineering leads and senior engineers.
• Identify architectural drift and ensure implementation remains aligned with the intended technical design.
• Partner with engineering and product stakeholders to balance technical quality, business requirements, performance, and delivery timelines.
• Continuously improve frontend architecture, engineering practices, development efficiency, and overall delivery quality.

Nice to have:

• Hands-on experience with Shopify Storefront API.
• Experience with Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC) Composable Storefront.
• Experience with BigCommerce.
• Familiarity with headless and composable commerce architectures.
• Experience working with headless CMS platforms such as Contentful, Sanity, or Contentstack.
• Experience working with high-traffic ecommerce platforms and performance-critical storefronts.
• Experience with CDN configuration, edge delivery, and advanced caching strategies.
• Experience working with AI coding agents and agentic software development workflows.
