Principal Solutions Architect (Front-End Focused)

We’re looking for a Principal Solutions Architect (Front-End Focused) to lead the technical direction of high-traffic, headless commerce projects for major retail brands. You’ll own front-end architecture, drive performance and engineering standards, translate business requirements into technical solutions, and collaborate directly with clients and distributed engineering teams.

Location: Europe, LATAM, or Canada.

Tools: React, Next.js, TypeScript, Shopify Plus / Salesforce Commerce Cloud / Big Commerce / SCAYLE, Vercel, CI/CD pipelines, Cursor and/or Claude Code, ChatGPT, Jest, Cypress, Playwright, Slack, Jira, Confluence.

Responsibilities:

• Design and own scalable front-end architectures using Next.js, React, and TypeScript for enterprise commerce projects.
• Break down epics into clear, actionable user stories with acceptance criteria, technical dependencies, and complexity estimates.
• Lead architectural decisions across rendering, state management, caching, and performance optimization, documenting key decisions in ADRs.
• Drive Core Web Vitals and establish performance standards across the delivery team.
• Define coding standards, project conventions, and documentation that support consistent development by both engineers and AI agents.
• Collaborate with clients during discovery to translate business requirements into scalable and practical architecture roadmaps.
• Resolve technical ambiguity before development begins, unblock engineers, and address architectural drift when implementation deviates from the intended design.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience leading front-end architecture decisions and providing technical direction for distributed engineering teams.
• Proven ability to design scalable front-end systems for complex, enterprise-level applications.
• Deep expertise in Next.js (App Router, React Server Components), React, TypeScript, and modern web architecture, including SSR, edge computing, and serverless patterns.
• Strong background in web performance engineering, including Core Web Vitals, CDN configuration, caching strategies, and delivering measurable performance improvements.
• Strong written and spoken English with the ability to communicate technical concepts, explain architectural trade-offs, and align solutions with client expectations.
• Experience with AI-assisted / agentic development, including writing clear specifications, maintaining documentation as technical context, and structuring features so AI-generated code is reliable and reviewable.

Preffered Qualifications:

• Familiarity with commerce platforms (Shopify Storefront API, SFCC Composable Storefront, Big Commerce).
• Experience with headless CMS platforms (Contentful, Sanity, Contentstack).
