React Native Developer

About the role

ClassOwl is a school-management system used by schools. We are hiring a Middle+ / Senior React Native Developer to work on the existing mobile product for iOS and Android

The application is built with React Native CLI and TypeScript. Most tasks involve extending and improving the current application: adding product functionality, integrating APIs, working with authentication, push notifications and device features, and investigating issues reported from staging or production

The developer will take part in a feature from clarification and estimation to implementation, code review and release. It is important to understand an existing codebase, make changes carefully, account for differences between iOS and Android, and handle changes in network and application state reliably


What you will work with

• an existing React Native CLI application for iOS and Android
• TypeScript, React and React Navigation
• REST APIs, authentication and secure local data
• real-time features using WebSockets — a near-term focus area, including reconnect handling and sync after network loss
• push notifications, deep links, file handling and device capabilities
• native builds, debugging and releases for App Store and Google Play
• investigating and fixing issues in staging and production, accounting for different school configurations
   

Responsibilities

• clarify requirements together with the Business Analyst, asking questions that help narrow down scope where needed
• estimate tasks and discuss solutions with the Lead Developer, considering iOS/Android differences and impact across school installations
• develop and test features for both iOS and Android
• integrate REST APIs, real-time updates (WebSockets) and mobile platform services
• participate in App Store and Google Play releases and investigate production issues
• review code from other developers and give constructive feedback
• verify changes carefully before release, considering platform-specific risks and rollout impact
   

What we expect

• 3+ years of commercial React Native development experience
• strong knowledge of TypeScript, JavaScript, React and React Native
• experience supporting an existing production mobile application
• experience with REST APIs, authentication and WebSockets
• understanding of the mobile application lifecycle, unstable network handling and platform differences
• experience with push notifications and deep links
• experience building, debugging and releasing applications for iOS and Android
• Git and code review experience
• English at B1 level or higher
   

Experience with native iOS or Android code and mobile CI/CD is a plus
