Senior Full Stack Java Developer (Apache OFBiz)

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Full Stack Java Developer to join a long-term project supporting an established UK organization.

You’ll design, enhance, and maintain web applications and ERP-related solutions that support critical business operations. This is a hands-on role covering backend services, frontend development, relational databases, and enterprise integrations.

The ideal candidate has strong commercial Java experience combined with hands-on expertise in Apache OFBiz, including Groovy and FreeMarker.

What You’ll Do

Solution Design & Development

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable full-stack business applications
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Contribute to architecture, coding standards, security, and performance improvements
• Participate in code reviews and technical discussions

Backend Development

• Develop backend services and business logic using Java
• Build and maintain Apache OFBiz entities, services, events, screens, and components
• Develop business rules, automation, and integrations using Groovy
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement long-term solutions

Frontend & Data

• Develop user interfaces using FreeMarker, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Build responsive and accessible web interfaces
• Design and optimize SQL queries and support database improvements
• Develop ERP workflows, integrations, and scheduled jobs

Quality & Delivery

• Write unit and integration tests
• Support production releases and post-release activities
• Maintain technical documentation
• Ensure maintainable, secure, and high-quality code

Must-Have Requirements

• Strong commercial experience as a Full Stack Java Developer
• Excellent Java development skills
• Hands-on experience with Apache OFBiz
• Practical experience with Groovy
• Practical experience with FreeMarker
• Experience delivering or integrating ERP systems
• Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Strong SQL skills, including query optimization and relational database design
• Experience with web application architecture and REST APIs
• Strong debugging and root-cause analysis skills
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Excellent communication skills in English (B2+)

Nice to Have

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with Git
• Docker, Linux, or cloud deployment experience
• Performance tuning of Apache OFBiz or relational databases
• Relevant certifications or degree
