Python Backend Engineer

About the Role

At Coreblocks, we're looking for a Python Backend Engineer to help build the next generation of financial infrastructure. You'll work on scalable backend services, distributed systems, and AI-powered capabilities that support our platform. This role combines backend engineering, data processing, API development, and modern AI integrations, with a strong focus on performance, reliability, and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

Backend Engineering

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Python (FastAPI, Django, or Flask).
• Build clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following modern software engineering practices.
• Improve the performance, reliability, and scalability of existing services.

Data Processing & System Integrations

• Develop and optimize data ingestion, ETL, and real-time processing pipelines.
• Integrate backend services with financial infrastructure, blockchain components, and third-party platforms.
• Ensure efficient and reliable data movement across distributed systems.

AI & Intelligent Services

• Collaborate with AI and Data teams to integrate LLM-powered capabilities and machine learning features into backend services.
• Implement semantic search, intelligent categorization, and AI-driven automation.
• Contribute to RAG-based and AI-enhanced product functionality where applicable.

API & Microservices

• Design and maintain secure, well-documented RESTful and gRPC APIs.
• Build reliable communication between internal microservices and external partners.
• Ensure API stability, performance, and security across the platform.

Database & Performance Optimization

• Optimize PostgreSQL queries, database schemas, and indexing strategies.
• Work with Redis to improve caching, throughput, and overall application performance.
• Design backend services capable of handling concurrent workloads efficiently.

Engineering Excellence

• Participate in code reviews and architectural discussions.
• Write unit and integration tests to ensure software quality.
• Contribute to engineering standards, documentation, and continuous technical improvements.

Requirements

Technical Background

• 3+ years of commercial experience developing backend applications with Python.
• Strong hands-on experience with FastAPI and asynchronous programming using asyncio.
• Experience designing and maintaining production-grade backend services.

Databases

• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and SQL optimization techniques.
• Experience working with NoSQL databases and Redis.
• Practical experience with vector databases such as Pinecone, Milvus, Weaviate, or similar for AI-powered search and retrieval systems.

Cloud & DevOps

• Experience with Docker and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or GitLab CI).
• Experience working with AWS or Google Cloud Platform.

Financial & Technical Domain

• Understanding of financial systems, transaction processing, payment flows, or blockchain-based architectures.
• Familiarity with distributed systems and scalable backend design.

Collaboration

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working in a remote, cross-functional engineering team.
• Professional English (B2+) or higher.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Node.js or TypeScript.
• Hands-on experience with AI development tools such as Cursor, Claude, GitHub Copilot, or similar.
• Familiarity with Kafka, RabbitMQ, Airflow, Prefect, or other messaging and orchestration technologies.
• Experience building or supporting AI-enabled backend services, RAG architectures, or LLM integrations.
