Archysoft is a software development company with over 10 years of experience delivering solutions to clients across the United States and Western Europe.
We are looking for a Senior Android Developer to maintain and further develop a mature native application for managing Bluetooth-enabled devices. The product also includes encrypted chats, audio and video calls, media integrations, and a Wear OS companion application.
The role requires an independent engineer comfortable working with a large production codebase, complex Bluetooth functionality, and a reactive technology stack.
In this role, you will:
- Maintain and further develop the native Android application;
- Investigate production issues using Firebase Crashlytics;
- Implement new features and support new Android versions and devices;
- Work with a custom Bluetooth Low Energy protocol stack across several generations of devices;
- Improve BLE connection stability, background operation, and foreground services;
- Support DFU/OTA firmware updates;
- Maintain WebRTC calls, real-time chats, encrypted data storage, and the Wear OS application;
- Support Media3/ExoPlayer and Spotify integrations;
- Manage releases through Google Play, Firebase App Distribution, and alternative channels;
- Update dependencies, improve legacy code, reduce technical debt, and introduce unit tests;
Participate in code reviews and collaborate with development and QA teams.
Required experience and skills
- 5+ years of commercial Android development experience;
- Expert knowledge of Kotlin and the ability to read and modify Java code;
- Strong commercial experience with RxJava 3, RxAndroid, and RxKotlin;
- Strong knowledge of the classic Android View system: XML, ViewBinding, and custom views;
- Practical BLE experience, including GATT, services, characteristics, background restrictions, and connection stability;
- Experience with Hilt or Dagger 2;
- Experience with Room and Android Navigation Component;
- Experience maintaining large multi-module Gradle projects;
- Understanding of build variants, product flavors, and complex build configurations;
- Experience with the full Google Play release lifecycle;
- Experience maintaining and debugging production applications;
- Ability to work independently;
English level B2 or higher.
As a plus
- RxAndroidBle and OTA/DFU experience;
- WebRTC and audio-routing experience;
- Wear OS and Jetpack Compose experience;
- Experience with end-to-end encryption, Olm/Matrix, or SQLCipher;
- Media3, ExoPlayer, or MediaSession experience;
- GitLab CI and fastlane;
Experience distributing applications outside Google Play or supporting the Chinese market.
