Join a working team that is dedicated to the mission of the work we do!
Teaching Strategies is an innovative edtech organization focused on connecting teachers, children, and families. As front runners in the early childhood education market, we build dynamic, top-quality digital products that integrate all of the essential elements of a high-quality solution: curriculum, assessment, professional development, and family engagement. We are building a team of results-oriented individuals who will thrive in a collaborative, work-hard/play-hard culture. We pride ourselves on the impact we have on the early childhood field through supporting teachers who are doing the most important work there is, teaching children to become creative, confident thinkers.
Our client is looking for a hands-on Quality Engineer who treats quality as a core engineering responsibility, not a downstream testing function.
This role is ideal for someone who takes end-to-end ownership of product quality and works across manual and exploratory testing, test automation, code review, risk analysis, release validation, debugging, and product delivery.
This is an AI-first quality engineering role focused on modern automation, agentic workflows, shift-left engineering practices, and hands-on product validation. The Quality Engineer will use AI-assisted development and engineering tools to improve test coverage, accelerate validation, identify quality risks, and increase delivery effectiveness.
The role combines manual validation, automation engineering, code review, and release ownership as part of a single end-to-end quality engineering responsibility.
- Use AI-assisted development and agentic workflows to accelerate test creation, automation maintenance, debugging, defect analysis, and quality validation.
- Perform hands-on manual, exploratory, regression, and release testing as part of sprint delivery.
- Design, review, and maintain clear, risk-based test cases that support both manual and automated validation.
- Build, maintain, and execute scalable automated tests using Playwright and TypeScript or JavaScript across UI and API layers.
- Develop reusable automation components and test data utilities, and support reliable automated test execution in CI/CD pipelines.
- Review pull requests, automated tests, and AI-generated code to ensure correctness, determinism, maintainability, and alignment with engineering best practices.
- Identify gaps, risks, and incorrect assumptions in AI-generated test cases, automation code, and validation approaches.
- Support manual QA engineers transitioning into broader Quality Engineer responsibilities, including automation, code review, and AI-assisted workflows.
- Apply shift-left and risk-based quality practices by reviewing requirements, identifying testability and coverage gaps early, investigating failures, and maintaining traceability in Xray.
- Partner with engineering, product, and design teams to improve release confidence, product quality, and customer impact.
- Use quality metrics, defect trends, customer-reported issues, and production feedback to identify risks, improve test coverage, and drive continuous quality improvements.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools and building or improving agentic workflows for testing, automation, debugging, and quality validation.
- 5+ years of hands-on test automation experience and demonstrated ability to take ownership of manual, exploratory, regression, and release testing as part of regular sprint delivery.
- Strong hands-on experience with Playwright and practical programming skills in TypeScript and JavaScript.
- Strong manual testing skills, including test design, exploratory testing, regression testing, release validation, and defect investigation.
- Strong code review skills, including the ability to evaluate automation design, identify gaps in AI-generated code and test assets, and ensure deterministic, maintainable test coverage.
- Experience testing modern web applications across UI and API layers, including test data management and CI/CD integration.
- Strong systems thinking and ability to understand application architecture, data flows, integrations, and quality risks across the full product lifecycle.
- Ability to balance delivery speed, product quality, automation maintainability, and customer impact in a fast-moving product environment.
- Experience with Xray, Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, BrowserStack, and modern CI/CD processes.
- Strong debugging, root-cause analysis, ownership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Upper-intermediate or higher English communication skills and availability to work until at least 12:00 PM ET, Monday through Friday.
