Our client in the energy industry is looking for a Senior Rust Engineer to join a security-focused project aimed at building a scalable Secret Detection Platform.
The platform detects sensitive information across source code repositories, configuration files, and CI/CD pipelines. The solution extends Gitleaks with custom Rust components, advanced detection logic, and ML-assisted false-positive classification to improve detection accuracy and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently pick up and deliver User Stories from the backlog according to priority.
• Design, develop, and optimize a Gitleaks-based Secret Scanning solution.
• Develop custom detection capabilities and extensions using Rust.
• Design and implement workload distribution and horizontal scaling using Kafka and AWS Fargate.
• Create and maintain detection patterns and Regex rules for various secret types.
• Integrate the solution into GitLab CI/CD pipelines with automated policy enforcement.
• Integrate ML/LLM models (ONNX Runtime) to improve false-positive classification and detection accuracy.
• Produce high-quality technical documentation in Markdown and support knowledge sharing across development teams.
• Promote and enforce application security best practices.
• Continuously improve scan performance, scalability, and detection quality.
• Develop dashboards and metrics to visualize security posture, scan coverage, remediation SLAs, and risk reduction.
• Containerize services using Docker where appropriate.

Mandatory Skills

• Strong commercial experience with Rust.
• Deep understanding of GitLab CI/CD, including pipeline architecture, job orchestration, and best practices.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka for workload distribution and scaling.
• Strong knowledge of Secret Management, secret types, and secure handling practices.
• Experience with GitLab Policies and security compliance.
• Excellent knowledge of Regular Expressions (Regex).
• Experience with Git and distributed version control.
• Practical experience with Secret Scanning tools (preferably Gitleaks) and their integration.
• Experience writing professional technical documentation in Markdown.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Docker
• Experience with AWS Fargate
• Experience with Gitleaks
• Knowledge of ML/LLM concepts and experience integrating or consuming ONNX models
• Experience with Kubernetes
• Background in Application Security, DevSecOps, or SAST
