Senior Kubernetes Platform Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Kubernetes Platform Engineer to join a high-priority project with an ASAP start.

As a Senior Kubernetes Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and operating production-grade Kubernetes platforms that support business-critical applications. You'll work in a small, highly skilled engineering team alongside a Platform Architect, Technical Project Manager, and DevOps Engineers, contributing both to day-to-day platform operations and long-term architectural decisions.

Location

• Remote.
• Preferebly based in Germany But also open to candidates located anywhere within the European Union.

Contract

• Full-time.
• 2-month contract.

• Immediate availability is highly preferred.

   

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and improve enterprise Kubernetes platforms in production environments.
• Manage Kubernetes clusters, ensuring high availability, scalability, and reliability.
• Design and automate infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code practices.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows.
• Implement secure, scalable, and resilient platform solutions.
• Monitor platform health, performance, and observability using industry-standard tools.
• Participate in platform architecture discussions and technical decision-making.
• Produce high-quality technical documentation, runbooks, and operational guidelines.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional and international teams.

Required Skills & Experience

• Several years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering.
• At least 5 year of daily hands-on production experience with Kubernetes, including:
  • Cluster lifecycle management
  • Ingress Controllers
  • Service Mesh
  • cert-manager
• Strong experience with:
  • Terraform
  • Helm (or Kustomize)
  • CI/CD pipelines
  • GitOps, preferably ArgoCD
• Proficiency in Go, Python, or Bash for automation and platform tooling.
• Solid experience with:
  • Prometheus
  • Grafana
  • OpenTelemetry
  • Designing and implementing SLI/SLO frameworks
• Strong understanding of platform security best practices and compliance requirements.
• Experience working in cross-functional, multinational engineering teams.
• Strong written and spoken English (B2+/Upper-Intermediate or higher).

Nice to Have

• Kubernetes certifications (CKA, CKAD, or CKS).
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• OpenShift or OKD.
• Multi-cluster Kubernetes environments.
• Ansible.
• Kubernetes Operators.
• Operator SDK or Kubebuilder.
• Longhorn or other Kubernetes-native storage solutions.
• OVN-Kubernetes networking.
• Experience writing ADRs, runbooks, and platform design documentation.

We're looking for a senior-level engineer with deep expertise in Kubernetes platform engineering and production infrastructure. The ideal candidate is comfortable taking ownership of complex platform challenges, contributing to architecture decisions, driving automation initiatives, and collaborating effectively within international teams.
