Job Description

Required Experience

• 3 years of experience in software quality assurance, including functional and automation testing.
• Experience testing data-intensive systems and backend services.
• Hands-on experience with database testing (DB2, PostgreSQL, or similar) using SQL.
• Experience with test automation frameworks (Selenium, Cypress, or equivalent).
• Experience with Python
• Experience with API testing tools (Thunder Client, REST clients, or equivalent).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Agile development methodologies.
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field — or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Experience

• Experience testing batch processing, ingestion pipelines, or distributed systems.
• Familiarity with copyright systems and data standards in the music industry (e.g., CWR, ISWC, IPI) is a significant plus.
• Experience with Azure DevOps for work tracking and pipeline integration.
• Familiarity with basic performance testing concepts is a plus, particularly against Java-based systems.
• Familiarity with DataDog for log monitoring and observability is a plus.
• Familiarity with Linux-based systems and command-line operations is a plus.
• Familiarity with Azure Portal and cloud resource management is a definite plus.
• Familiarity with AI as an augmentative tool for test case generation, documentation, and productivity is a plus.

Job Responsibilities

Functional Testing

• Develop, coordinate, and execute end-to-end functional testing for core platform workflows including ingestion, parsing, transformation, and storage.
• Validate data integrity and correctness across DB2, PostgreSQL, and downstream processing pipelines.
• Create and maintain detailed test plans, test cases, and test data for functional, regression, and integration testing.
• Perform API testing and validation for services supporting data ingestion, matching, and processing workflows.
• Execute regression and smoke tests across assigned platforms for each release cycle.
• Identify, document, and manage defects using enterprise bug tracking tools (Azure DevOps / Jira).

Automation & Technical

• Develop and maintain automated test suites using Selenium, Cypress, or equivalent frameworks.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps preferred).
• Validate complex data-driven workflows including parsing, normalization, and transformation logic.
• Perform database validation testing using SQL across DB2 and relational systems.
• Support testing of distributed and batch processing systems including ingestion pipelines, parsers, and matching engines.

Collaboration & Process

• Collaborate with developers and architects to define acceptance criteria and testability requirements.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies: sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.
• Provide clear and consistent status reporting on testing progress, risks, and quality metrics.
• Follow and contribute to QA standards, frameworks, and methodologies established by the team.

Department/Project Description

Our client is a performance rights organization in the United States. It collects blanket license fees from businesses that use music, entitling those businesses to play or sync any songs from the client's repertoire of over 22.4 million musical works. On a regular basis, the client distributes the money to songwriters, composers, and music publishers as royalties to those members whose works have been performed.
