Backend Engineer

We are building a digital learning platform for maritime education and training.

Our goal is to create a modern digital university for maritime professionals, combining LMS, certifications, and real-world industry integration.

We are currently at an early stage and working with an openEdX vendor to build and customise the core platform.

We are looking for a Backend Engineer (mid to senior level) to join our early team.

What you’ll work on:

• backend customisation and extension around openEdX 
• integrations (payments, user management, certification, external services) 
• API development and data flows 
• collaboration with the vendor team and internal technical team 

Tech stack / environment:

• Python (Django is a plus) 
• REST APIs 
• SQL databases (PostgreSQL or MySQL) 
• cloud-based environment (Docker is a plus) 

What we’re looking for:

• 3+ years of backend development experience 
• solid understanding of API design and data flows 
• ability to work in an early-stage, evolving environment
