Mechanical Design Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a project delivered for a well-known company in the railway industry, specializing in the design and manufacturing of seating solutions.
In this role, you will be responsible for designing welding fixtures and tooling used in the production of steel structures, working closely with production and engineering teams to ensure high quality and efficient manufacturing processes.
Your tasks:
- Designing welding fixtures and tooling for steel structures used in the railway industry
- Developing concepts for locating, clamping, and positioning welded components
- Preparing 3D models and 2D technical documentation
- Selecting standard components, pneumatic systems, and mechanical parts used in fixtures and tooling
- Collaborating with welding engineers, production teams, and quality departments
- Analyzing and optimizing existing solutions in terms of quality, ergonomics, and production efficiency
- Providing technical supervision over the manufacturing of fixtures by in-house workshops or external suppliers
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related technical field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in designing welding tooling, welding fixtures, or production equipment
- Very good knowledge of 3D CAD software (CATIA, SolidWorks, NX, or similar)
- Ability to prepare technical documentation in accordance with applicable industry standards
- Experience in projects for the railway industry
- Knowledge of EN 15085 welding standards
- Knowledge of steel structure welding processes (MIG/MAG, TIG)
- Understanding of locating, positioning, and clamping principles for manufactured parts
- Ability to analyze and compensate for welding distortions
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T/GPS)
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and customer specifications
- Communicative level of English
- Tax residency in Ukraine is required
Nice-to-have requirements:
- Knowledge of ISO 3834 quality requirements
- Experience working with large-scale steel structures
- Knowledge of industrial pneumatics and hydraulics
- Ability to perform Finite Element Method (FEM/FEA) analyses
- Experience in implementing robotic and automated production cells/workstations
- Knowledge of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods and their impact on the design of welded structures and welding tooling
- Familiarity with PDM/PLM systems
