Staff / Lead Full-Stack Engineer (AI / Commerce)

We are building an AI-native commerce platform that enables brands to create, launch, and continuously optimize personalized shopping experiences across every customer touchpoint. The platform leverages autonomous AI systems, experimentation frameworks, and real-time data to improve customer journeys and drive measurable business outcomes.

As an early engineering leader, you will play a critical role in defining the technical direction of the platform, making architectural decisions, and building scalable systems from the ground up alongside a highly experienced founding team.

Ideal Background

We are particularly interested in candidates who have built and scaled products in strong technology companies, high-growth startups, or AI-native environments, rather than engineers whose experience has primarily been within outsourcing, service-based, or legacy enterprise organizations.

What You'll Do

• Own complex features end-to-end across a TypeScript monorepo, spanning backend services, merchant-facing applications, and customer storefronts.
• Design and implement scalable architecture for a rapidly evolving AI-driven product.
• Lead technical decision-making and establish engineering standards, patterns, and best practices.
• Build merchant tooling that enables brands to configure, launch, and optimize commerce experiences across multiple channels.
• Develop and evolve the experimentation, analytics, and event-driven infrastructure powering continuous optimization.
• Collaborate closely with AI systems, designing reliable interfaces, workflows, and guardrails that allow AI agents to safely influence product behavior.
• Partner directly with founders on product strategy, technical trade-offs, and long-term platform evolution.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across the team.

What We're Looking For

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, including experience in high-growth product companies or venture-backed startups.
• Proven experience as a Tech Lead, Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, or similar role with ownership of solution architecture and technical direction.
• Deep expertise with TypeScript, React, Next.js, and Node.js.
• Strong system design and architecture skills, including distributed systems, scalability, reliability, and performance optimization.
• Experience building products from zero to one and scaling them through multiple growth stages.
• Strong product mindset with the ability to translate ambiguous business problems into elegant technical solutions.
• Comfortable operating in fast-paced environments with significant ownership and autonomy.
• Excellent communication skills and experience working closely with founders, product leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders.

Nice to Have

• Experience building AI-powered products or integrating LLMs into production systems.
• Experience with experimentation platforms, analytics infrastructure, or event-driven architectures.
• Familiarity with Shopify or other e-commerce ecosystems.
• Previous startup founding experience or participation in early-stage product development.
