About the Product

We are developing an AI-first maritime intelligence platform that combines multiple global maritime data sources into one operational view. The product creates a digital twin of worldwide maritime activity and uses behavioral analytics, predictive AI models, and advanced data processing to detect risks such as smuggling, illegal fishing, container threats, and other compliance or security issues.

The platform is used by commercial, regulatory, and government customers, operating at global scale and processing millions of events along with terabytes of geospatial data every day. It is built on cloud infrastructure, microservices, and close integration with research and data science prototypes.
 

About the Role

As a Senior Backend Python Engineer, you will join an autonomous team focused on building and scaling agentic, AI-first workflows within a production-grade maritime intelligence platform.

You will be responsible for designing, delivering, and operating backend services that support generative AI agents at scale. The role involves influencing architecture, improving AI-SDLC practices, and helping shape agent-based automation used in real-world defense, regulatory, and enterprise scenarios.
 

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable Python-based microservices for agentic workflows, data pipelines, and distributed systems.
• Contribute to frontend development with React when needed.
• Integrate generative AI capabilities into production systems, including LLM APIs, RAG pipelines, and autonomous agents.
• Build operational practices and observability for AI components, including monitoring for model drift, hallucinations, and performance metrics.
• Implement and improve AI-SDLC standards, including code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and trace-based quality evaluation.
• Design and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform, Kubernetes, and AWS services.
• Improve engineering velocity and product quality through automation, tooling, and architecture improvements.
• Mentor engineers on AI frameworks, developer tools, and best practices for high-scale agentic development.
• Work closely with product and research teams to turn user needs into reliable, secure, and scalable backend services.
   

Required Skills and Experience

• 7+ years of professional backend engineering experience.
• At least 2 years of experience building agentic or autonomous AI workflows in production.
• Strong hands-on experience with Python.
• Practical experience with agentic frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, DeepAgents, CrewAI, OpenClaw, Hermes, or similar.
• Proven experience designing scalable, event-driven architectures on AWS.
• Experience with messaging systems such as SQS/SNS and SQL/NoSQL databases.
• Strong understanding of GraphQL or REST API design.
• Solid DevOps background, including CI/CD, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
• Experience with production-grade security, monitoring, and incident response for mission-critical systems.
• Strong communication skills, autonomy, ownership, and ability to work in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
   

Nice to Have

• Experience with React.js or full-stack development.
• Familiarity with vector databases and similarity search for AI applications.
