Founding Full-Stack Engineer (Python + React)

Eastern Peak is looking for a Senior Full-Stack Developer to join a UK-based B2B startup at a very early stage.
You will be the first developer on the team, responsible for building the product from the ground up - from MVP architecture to a scalable enterprise-grade platform. The product is an AI-powered requirements management & assurance platform for enterprises in regulated, engineering-intensive industries (think: traceability, compliance, audit-ready evidence, and decision-making across complex programmes). You'll work directly with the founder, shape the technical vision, and own the full development lifecycle.

What You'll Do:
- Design and develop a secure, scalable, cloud-based SaaS platform from scratch
- Develop backend services and REST APIs with Python (FastAPI/Django), design the database architecture
- Build modern, responsive web UIs and dashboards (React, TypeScript)
- Integrate AI/LLM capabilities into core product workflows (document analysis, requirements extraction, automation)
- Implement authentication, role-based access control (RBAC), and audit logging
- Build reporting, analytics, and data visualization features
- Set up cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and DevOps practices on Azure
- Ensure platform security, reliability, and scalability as the product grows
- Participate in product and architecture decisions as the founding engineer

What We're Looking For:
- 5+ years of full-stack development experience, ideally with enterprise SaaS products
- Experience building products from scratch
- Strong backend skills: Python (FastAPI or Django), API design, SQLAlchemy/ORM, PostgreSQL
- Solid frontend experience: React, TypeScript, modern UI frameworks
- Hands-on experience integrating AI/LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI) and frameworks like LangChain/LlamaIndex into production workflows
- Experience with cloud-native architecture - Azure preferred (AWS/GCP also considered)
- Good understanding of security and compliance best practices (RBAC, audit trails, data protection)
- Self-driven, comfortable owning a product end-to-end with minimal supervision
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal
