We design and manufacture handheld medical and dental devices in Israel — curing lights, dental handpieces, wound-care instruments — and we're looking for one excellent senior mechanical engineer to join our small team remotely, full-time, long-term.
About Kii.am
Kii.am is a contract design and manufacturing house based in Israel. We develop medical, dental, veterinary, and dermatology devices for clients worldwide, taking each project from concept through production. We're hands-on — we don't outsource the hard parts, we do them. The team is small and tight.
The role
You will project-manage end-to-end and own the mechanical side of our projects — concept CAD, design-for-manufacturing decisions, drawing packs, prototype iteration, and physical testing. You'll work directly with our CTO, our electrical engineer, external industrial and electrical-layout designers, ad-hoc sub-contractors, and our project leads.
Day-to-day:
• Ideation — innovative thinking, research into existing solutions, sketching, and 3D-printing concepts for hands-on testing
• Designing handheld device enclosures and precision electromechanical assemblies
• Driving DFM decisions for injection-molded plastics, CNC-machined aluminum, and sheet metal
• Producing production-ready drawing packs with GD&T
• Collaborating with our electrical engineer on PCBA mechanical integration — board outline, connector placement, thermal paths, EMI/EMC, mechanical retention
• Building, assembling, and physically testing prototypes at your workshop — we courier parts to you and pay all shipping
• Running an agile rhythm — daily collaboration calls, cameras on, open communication
• Hosting us when we visit you — Kii.am covers all travel
Required (technical):
• 5+ years professional mechanical engineering experience in similar fields: handheld devices, small mechanisms, disposable plastics design, desktop medical devices
• Expert SolidWorks
• Strong DFM intuition for plastics and CNC aluminum
• GD&T fluency — production-ready drawings
• Electronics-literate: our EE designs the boards, but you understand at a functional level what the circuit does and why it's laid out as it is (connector pin counts, board outline, thermal paths, EMI, mechanical retention)
• Comfortable doing hands-on physical prototyping and testing yourself
Required (working style):
• Full-time, exclusive engagement with Kii.am
• Home office with reliable high-speed internet, a decent webcam, and a good microphone
• English at B2 or above — we work live in English on video calls
• Agile and communicative; workday overlapping Israel time (we're 1–2 hours ahead of most Eastern European time zones)
• Hands-on mindset — you love building, testing, and shipping working hardware, not just modeling
Nice-to-have:
• 3D printer at home (FDM minimum; resin/SLA a plus). If you don't have one, Kii.am will buy you one.
• Willing to occasionally visit Israel — Kii.am covers all travel
• Medical-device or regulated-industry experience (ISO 13485, FDA QSR)
• Handheld consumer electronics enclosure portfolio
• FEA / simulation (SolidWorks Simulation, Ansys)
• Injection-mold tooling collaboration experience
• A home workshop with calipers, hand tools, soldering iron
What Kii.am provides:
• Long-term, full-time B2B engagement — you invoice us monthly
• 3D printer if you don't have one
• All prototype parts, materials, and courier costs both directions
• All travel costs for visits in either direction
• SolidWorks license and any tools you need
• A standard NDA forms part of the contract
Selection process:
1. CV + portfolio review (in English; include 2+ CAD/drawing examples)
2. 30-min video call with our CEO or CTO (English, motivation, salary, brief portfolio walkthrough)
3. Share 1–2 SolidWorks files from your existing portfolio so we can see how you build
4. Paid trial assignment: design a small sealed tactile button module to a brief
5. Final technical interview with CEO and CTO
6. Contract offer + 3-month probation
How to apply:
When you apply, please include:
• CV in English (PDF)
• Portfolio with 2+ CAD/drawing examples, preferably projects deployed to market
• Your monthly salary expectation in USD or EUR
• 2–3 sentences on why this role and why Kii.am interests you
We read every application personally and aim to reply within 7 working days.
