Senior Shopify Full Stack Engineer (Backend-Focused)

About the Role
IT Delight is looking for a Senior Shopify Full Stack Engineer with a strong backend focus to join our growing team. You’ll work on complex Shopify ecosystems, custom app development, scalable integrations, and high-performance eCommerce solutions for international clients.

We’re searching for someone who combines deep backend expertise with solid frontend understanding and can confidently drive technical decisions, optimize architecture, and mentor other engineers.

Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain custom Shopify applications and integrations
• Build scalable backend services using Node.js / TypeScript
• Work with Shopify APIs (Admin API, Storefront API, GraphQL)
• Design and implement microservices and third-party integrations
• Optimize performance, security, and scalability of Shopify stores
• Collaborate closely with frontend developers, designers, PMs, and QA
• Participate in architecture discussions and code reviews
• Mentor middle/junior engineers and contribute to engineering standards
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and improve system reliability

Requirements
• 5+ years of commercial software engineering experience
• Strong experience with Shopify development and Shopify ecosystem
• Deep backend expertise with Node.js and TypeScript
• Experience building custom Shopify apps
• Strong knowledge of GraphQL and REST APIs
• Experience with databases such as PostgreSQL or MongoDB
• Understanding of scalable system design and cloud infrastructure
• Experience with React / Next.js on the frontend side
• Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD, and modern DevOps practices
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Upper-Intermediate English or higher

Nice to Have
• Experience with Shopify Plus
• Knowledge of AWS or Google Cloud
• Experience with headless commerce architectures
• Understanding of event-driven systems and queues
• Previous experience in agency or product environments
