We are now looking for a TechOps Engineer who is eager to grow into a Site Reliability Engineer role. You will join our Cloud team, which is responsible for a wide range of ThingsBoard deployments β€” including our public PaaS platform, dedicated private cloud installations for enterprise customers, and internal QA cloud environments. Together, these deployments process billions of messages per day and store them across multi-terabyte Cassandra clusters.

 

Requirements

 

β€” Proven technical background and experience in supporting/configuring Linux/Unix servers;
β€” Experience with databases;
β€” Proficiency in Linux command line;
β€” Experience with Docker or Docker Compose;
β€” Troubleshooting skills sufficient to perform L2 investigations;
β€” Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, quick learner;
β€” Good communication skills;
β€” Intermediate or higher level of spoken and written English.

 

Responsibilities

 

β€” Analyze system performance, scalability, and high-availability issues across cloud deployments, and implement improvements to address them;
β€” Perform L2 incident investigation and response for production issues;
β€” Set up and maintain monitoring, alerting, and observability (Prometheus, Grafana, logs) across cloud clusters;
β€” Keep third-party components (databases, message brokers, OS packages) up to date across environments;
β€” Design and validate disaster recovery scenarios, including Cassandra cluster restore procedures;
β€” Schedule and roll out platform upgrades with minimal or zero downtime;
β€” Provision and configure new customer environments (private cloud installations, PaaS tenants);
β€” Automate routine operational tasks via scripts and infrastructure-as-code;
β€” Document procedures, runbooks, and postmortems to share knowledge with the team.

 

Will be a plus

 

β€” Experience with NoSQL databases (Cassandra in particular);
β€” Experience with Kafka;
β€” Kubernetes knowledge;
β€” Experience with public cloud providers (AWS, GCP, or Azure);
β€” Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK);
β€” Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible).
