QA Automation Lead (Warsaw)
Who we are
Adaptiq is a technology hub that helps high-growth product companies build, scale, and support strong R&D teams across different industries.
About the Product:
We support a multi-brand social gaming platform that provides real-time entertainment across web and mobile channels. The product combines a dynamic front-end, RESTful APIs, WebSocket services for live game sessions, and a complex back-end built to handle high user concurrency and large transaction volumes.
The platform is actively evolving, with weekly or bi-weekly releases that include new features, bug fixes, UI improvements, and third-party integrations โ all without downtime. Since production issues can directly impact user engagement and revenue, quality, stability, and reliable test automation are essential.
The combination of scale, frequent releases, and real-time functionality creates a challenging technical environment where strong automation practices make a direct business impact.
About the Role:
As a QA Automation Lead, you will build the automation function from scratch and take ownership of the overall automation strategy, framework architecture, CI/CD integration, and team growth.
During the first months, the role will be highly hands-on: you will write and review automation code, set up test execution in pipelines, define quality standards, and participate in defect analysis. Over time, you will also help hire, onboard, and mentor automation engineers, establishing processes that ensure strong test coverage and fast feedback on every pull request.
You will work closely with developers, product managers, and manual QA engineers to translate product requirements into clear test plans and automation coverage. Your work will directly influence release quality, delivery speed, and overall engineering efficiency in a fast-paced product environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain automated test frameworks for UI, API, and end-to-end testing.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar tools.
- Set up quality gates for pull requests and ensure fast, reliable feedback for engineering teams.
- Lead and mentor QA engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and daily support.
- Define testing standards, automation processes, documentation, and best practices.
- Own test coverage for assigned product areas and identify gaps before they reach production.
- Collaborate with developers and product managers to analyze requirements and create test plans.
- Manage defect triage, investigate test failures, coordinate fixes, and verify resolutions.
- Improve test reliability, execution speed, and maintainability.
- Identify quality risks and communicate them clearly to engineering and product stakeholders.
- Explore and introduce AI-assisted testing tools and modern automation approaches.
- Support recruitment and onboarding of new automation engineers as the team grows.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 5+ years of hands-on QA automation experience, including ownership of an automation codebase.
- Strong experience with Playwright and TypeScript in production-level automation frameworks.
- Solid JavaScript/TypeScript skills for building and maintaining automated tests.
- Experience with Cypress or Selenium may be considered if the overall automation background is strong.
- Proven experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar.
- Strong API testing experience with tools such as Postman, Supertest, or similar.
- Experience testing RESTful APIs; WebSocket testing experience is a strong advantage.
- Good understanding of Git workflows and agile software development practices.
- Experience mentoring QA engineers, conducting code reviews, and leading day-to-day QA activities.
- Familiarity with AI-driven testing tools and ability to assess their value in automation workflows.
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain quality risks to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
