AI/Agentic C# .NET Developer in Trading Startup (mid-level)
Who we are and who we’re looking for:
Cleo is not a place for developers who want to hide behind tickets and meetings.
We've built and are now evolving a next-generation trading platform, engineered for thousands of concurrent traders, delivering transparency and features unmatched in the industry, challenging and slowly beating giant corporations 100x our size.
Our success is rooted in a developer-first environment, free from middle management and corporate red tape - just pure focus on building. Extraordinary teams are built by extraordinary people - if you’ve ever felt unable to reach your full potential, felt a lack of impact, or weren’t challenged enough in your previous jobs, Cleo is the place to change that. If you ever wondered how your favorite tech influencer built his skillset and knowledge - join our team and experience the journey yourself, but don’t expect it to be easy.
This is an AI-native engineering role: you’ll be expected to use AI tools heavily for coding, testing, research, refactoring, and workflow automation - while still owning the correctness of the output.
Ideal candidate must:
• Genuinely enjoy software development
• Understand system design and design patterns beyond textbook definitions
• Can debug hard problems without waiting for perfect instructions
• Can explain technical tradeoffs clearly even to non-technical people
• Keep up with new tools, frameworks, and AI workflows
• Be proactive and take ownership instead of waiting to be assigned every task
What can you expect?
• Taking ownership of important parts of the project
• Working remotely with flexible working hours
• No corporate management or unnecessary meetings, just pure software development
• You will not just be following tasks; you will be assessing what needs to be done by yourself
• Working with the latest modern frameworks, services, and AI tools
• An amazing team of smart people where your ideas will be heard
What will you actually do?
• Categorical examples of tasks you might get:
○ Designing & implementing distributed cache for microservices
○ Implementing resilient trading data WebSocket streams
○ Optimizing order matching systems
○ Refactoring public APIs and docs
○ Researching new AI tools for suitability in our workflows
○ Setting up automated parallel AI testing pipelines
• Exploring new frameworks, services, and AI tools, then deciding what is actually useful
• Using AI heavily, but not blindly - verifying outputs, building guardrails, and improving workflows
• Architecture and system design of small components up to big services
Our tech stack:
• .NET C#, React - TypeScript
• MongoDB, PostgreSQL, EF
• Microservices, RabbitMQ, SignalR, ELK stack
Our hiring process:
1. Screening: 15-40 min MS Teams call with our Dev Team Lead
2. Task: Take-home coding task (you can use AI)
3. Follow-up: Call with 1-2 devs about your task solution + follow-up questions
4. Final evaluation: Call with our CEO to discuss the role and expectations in detail
Remuneration depends on skill level, ownership, and the value you can create. For this role, we expect most candidates to land around 2k-3k $/month, with room to go higher for someone who can take serious ownership from day one. Across the company, our technical compensation range is roughly 1.5k-5k $/month, from junior to senior-level contributors. We don’t care much about years of experience on a resume; we care about what you can actually deliver. We know that a hardworking developer with one strong year can outperform someone with 10 years in the industry, which we reward accordingly.
We move quickly, but we also filter quickly. If you bluff, exaggerate your experience, ignore the job post, or try to cheat your way through the process, it will become obvious fast and will only waste your time and ours.
