Journalist for YouTube channel

We are looking for a journalist to join our team and help us uncover the stories that shape our world for the Jeff Tilley YouTube channel. It’s a documentary channel where we explore different brands and their stories, countries and their innovations, and more.
 

Our content focuses on the stories behind it all - how companies operate, the real people and decisions behind them, and how they shape and change our lives. We dive into history, mistakes, smart ideas, business decisions, and unexpected twists that built the brands we all know.
 

Your role will be to explain the world behind brands, countries, and ideas in a simple and engaging way.

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has strong English skills
• Is passionate about business, technology, and innovation
• Loves documentary storytelling 
• Knows how to build strong narrative structures
• Isn’t afraid of deep research and digging for unexpected details
• Can confidently communicate with foreign interviewees
• Meets deadlines and delivers consistently
• Doesn’t fully rely on AI to generate scripts (We’re not against it. AI tools for research are fine, and improved phrasing is welcome, but we don’t want generic content filled with cliche phrases like “game changer”, “chaos”, etc.) 
   

About the job:

• You will conduct deep research into companies, founders, industries, etc.
• You will conduct interviews when needed to uncover key insights/details
• You will create a storyboard for each script
• You will create 1-3 scripts per month
• Average length of each script: 3500-4500 words
• Up to $200 per script (we’re flexible and open to discussing the final rate together)  
   

Important: 

• We pay for each final script via Upwork or by bank transfer if you’re a registered private entrepreneur.
