Senior DevOps Engineer (Linux)

Our client is a leading global Financial markets data provider that runs many change programs to deliver high-quality software that connects Financial Markets across the globe in a real-time, high-frequency, and low-latency data management chain.
We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer for Real Time Data Distribution System in the Real Time Core team. The successful candidate will combine strong technical and collaboration skills in a demanding and dynamic environment. You will work directly with your team and with groups across the organisation to ensure the best service for our client base.
You will be a member of a multi-skilled team building and maintaining components for our market leading our system.   • Engaging with the product owner, team lead, architects and other members of the global team you'll help build world-class solutions to address our customer needs.

  • Through agile retrospectives and reviews, you'll analyse and adapt, finding innovative ways to enable your team work more effectively delivering on time to defined standards of quality.
  • You'll need to able to work well under pressure and be adept at taking problems and seeing them through to resolution with minimal supervision.
  • You'll be an excellent communicator and very client focused with strong interpersonal skills.
  • You'll ensure that the Knowledge Base is kept up to date with the team's knowledge and technical issues resolution.
  • Second line point of escalation in event of a major incident.
  • Occasional weekend or evening deployment work.

• Mandatory Skills Description:

  • 8+ years of proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar role
  • 5+ years of hands-on Linux administration (RHEL/CentOS/AlmaLinux/Ubuntu) in enterprise environments
  • Proven experience leading OS upgrade and migration projects (in-place and rebuild approaches) across multiple environments
  • Strong expertise in patching strategies, lifecycle management, and end-of-support planning
  • Advanced knowledge of package management (YUM/DNF/APT) and repository management
  • Experience designing and executing backup, rollback, and disaster recovery procedures for upgrades
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (Bash, Python) with focus on reducing manual effort
  • Hands-on experience with configuration management and orchestration tools (Ansible preferred)
  • Experience working with virtualization and cloud platforms (VMware, AWS, Azure)
  • Deep understanding of system internals (kernel, boot process, systemd, networking, storage)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, including performance issues and post-upgrade incident resolution
  • Experience working in production environments under strict change management (ITIL or similar)
  • Solid understanding of security, patch compliance, and vulnerability remediation processes
  • Ability to assess risks, plan upgrades end-to-end, and coordinate with multiple stakeholders
