DevOps Engineer

QIT Software is looking for a skilled DevOps Engineer to join as a contractor . You'll own our cloud infrastructure, build tools that make developers' lives easier, and be someone we can count on when things break.

Requirements:

- 3+ years of hands-on experience with GCP (GKE, Cloud Run, Spanner, VPC, IAM)
- Strong Kubernetes skills — deploying, debugging, scaling, and securing clusters
- Solid networking knowledge — VPC peering, VPN setup, DNS, load balancing, firewall configuration
- Experience with Elasticsearch at scale (deployment, tuning, troubleshooting)
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi, or similar)
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines (Cloud Build, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar)
- Monitoring and observability expertise — setting up dashboards, alerts, and incident response workflows
- Comfortable being on-call and jumping in to fix production issues overnight when needed
- Strong troubleshooting mindset — you dig until you find the root cause

Responsibilities:

- Design, build, and maintain infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Manage and optimize Kubernetes (GKE) clusters for production workloads
- Deploy and maintain services on Cloud Run
- Administer Cloud Spanner databases from an infrastructure perspective
- Manage Elasticsearch clusters — scaling, monitoring, and troubleshooting
- Configure and maintain VPC networks, VPN tunnels, firewall rules, and overall network architecture
- Build and improve CI/CD pipelines and developer tooling
- Set up and maintain monitoring, alerting, and logging (Cloud Monitoring, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar)
- Respond to production incidents and be available for on-call/overnight escalations when critical issues arise
- Document infrastructure, runbooks, and processes

Would be a plus:

- Experience with Cloud Spanner performance tuning
- Familiarity with service mesh (Istio, Anthos)
- Scripting skills in Bash, Python, or Go
- Security hardening experience for cloud environments
