Full-Stack Team Lead (with team)

Our client is building a new product in the maritime intelligence space — helping governments and port authorities gain visibility into global shipping activity.
The platform analyzes vessel movements, cargo data, and risk signals to identify potential issues — including high-risk or non-compliant shipments — before they reach port.
It combines real-time data, rule-based logic, and predictive models to deliver actionable insights for decision-makers.
This is a new product built from scratch.
A prototype already exists, but the core architecture and product decisions are still open.
The team will work closely with senior engineering leadership based in Israel and will play a key role in shaping the product from early stage to production.

About the role
This is a hands-on Tech Lead position with full ownership.
You won’t be joining an existing team — you’ll bring your own (4–6 engineers) and build as a unit.
The focus is on delivering a production-ready system based on an existing prototype, working closely with data engineers and product stakeholders.

Tech stack

• Backend: Node.js
• Frontend: React (Angular is acceptable with readiness to transition)
• Data / Models: Python, Java
• Data tools: Jupyter Notebooks, advanced querying
• AI tools: Claude Code (expected as part of daily workflow)

Requirements
🔹Proven experience as a hands-on Tech Lead
🔹You have managed your current team for at least 4+ months
🔹Your team has been working together for 6+ months and delivered real projects
🔹Strong experience with Node.js and React
🔹Experience working with data-heavy systems
🔹Comfortable owning testing (no dedicated QA)
🔹Ability to work in a fast-paced, low-bureaucracy environment
🔹Strong ownership mindset — focus on outcomes, not tasks

Nice to have

🔹Experience with Java-based platforms
🔹Experience building data-driven or analytical products
🔹Previous experience working with AI-assisted development tools
🔹UX designer in the team (optional, but a plus)

What you will do:

🔹Define and own system architecture from an early stage
🔹Lead and coordinate a small, high-performing team you already worked with
🔹Own the full development lifecycle: development → testing → delivery → initial support
🔹Collaborate with data engineers on data pipelines, rule-based logic, and predictive models
🔹Translate complex data into a usable product (dashboards, maps, signals)
🔹Ensure high code quality and automated testing within the team
🔹Work directly with engineering leadership and VP R&D
