WordPress Developer with Claude Code skills

We’re looking for a WordPress contractor to take ownership of our corporate websites and their language versions. If you’re comfortable working independently in an async environment and use AI tools as a natural part of everyday work, we’d love to hear from you.

This opportunity is structured as a freelance contract with hourly billing.

About the Role:

You’ll work closely with our marketing team on ongoing development and maintenance tasks across our corporate websites and localized versions. The role has a clearly defined scope and real ownership - you decide how to approach tasks, which tools to use, and how to get things done efficiently.

Within this role, you will be responsible for:

• Maintaining and developing features across corporate WordPress websites and their language versions
• Working with themes, plugins, page builders, and custom PHP/JS code
• Implementing UI/UX updates based on briefs or Figma designs
• Handling site localization and multilingual support (WPML or similar)
• Writing and optimizing SQL queries; managing MySQL database tasks
• Building and integrating REST APIs and third-party services
• Performing code refactoring and maintaining code quality with unit tests
• Running performance optimization, bug fixes, and routine technical tasks
• Using Claude Code or comparable AI tools to handle repetitive and routine development tasks more efficiently
• Collaborating asynchronously with the marketing team via Slack and Jira

Requirements:

• 3+ years of proven commercial experience with WordPress and PHP
• Good knowledge of OOP and its practical application in WordPress development
• Solid MySQL skills - writing and optimizing SQL queries
• Experience with REST APIs, microservices, and third-party integrations
• Responsive UI development - HTML, CSS, CSS transitions
• Code refactoring and unit testing experience
• Git version control
• Daily use of Claude Code or a comparable AI coding tool - an expected part of the workflow, not a bonus
• Ability to work independently and manage tasks without close supervision
• English - Intermediate level or higher

Nice to Have:

• JavaScript development experience
• Docker - setup and basic usage
• PostgreSQL or Redis
• Apache / nginx configuration
• Familiarity with technical SEO - page speed, Core Web Vitals, structured data
• Experience working from Figma designs
