Senior WordPress Developer – Marketplace Platform

We’re looking for a senior, highly experienced WordPress developer (part-time) to support the ongoing development of an MVP-stage multi-vendor marketplace. This is not a typical e-commerce store — it is a B2B marketplace for software and service vendors with custom architecture, multi-language support, and complex vendor-focused logic.
 

The platform runs on a custom, heavily modified WordPress theme and includes a large amount of custom PHP logic and JavaScript-based functionality. The project relies on PHP-driven architecture, various PHP and JavaScript libraries, and jQuery-based components, so strong experience working in this type of environment is essential.
 

The role is part-time to start and focuses on supporting the platform’s technical refinement, feature development, and improvement of existing functionality.

About the Project:
 

The platform is a custom-built B2B marketplace that includes:

• Multi-language support
• Vendor product and service listings
• Custom vendor onboarding flows
• Vendor dashboards and vendor-level functionality
• Advanced user roles and permissions
• Service and product placement instead of a traditional cart
• A custom WordPress architecture with a heavily modified theme
• A large amount of custom PHP logic and JavaScript-based
functionality
• Multiple PHP and JS libraries integrated into the platform

The marketplace pushes WordPress significantly beyond standard use and requires developers who are comfortable working with custom logic, legacy components, and evolving architecture.

Responsibilities:
 

Platform Development & Feature Implementation

• Support ongoing development of the marketplace platform
• Implement new features and improve existing functionality
• Extend custom marketplace logic using PHP, WordPress, JavaScript, and jQuery
• Work with existing PHP + JS libraries integrated into the platform
• Help refine technical solutions during feature planning and technical discussions
• Translate product requirements into scalable technical implementations

Technical Refinement & Platform Stability

• Improve and refactor existing components where necessary
• Maintain clean, well-structured, and performant code
• Ensure stability and reliability of the platform as it evolves
• Identify technical improvements that can strengthen the system architecture

Collaboration & Development Process

• Work with the internal team to refine feature requirements and technical solutions
• Participate in technical discussions around feature implementation
• Document implemented features when needed
• Follow structured development workflows and maintain clear communication with the team
 

Required Expertise:
 

• Strong PHP and WordPress development experience
• Experience working with custom WordPress themes and plugins
• Strong JavaScript skills, including experience with jQuery
• Experience working with PHP + JavaScript libraries in custom platforms
• Experience with complex WordPress builds or marketplace platforms
• Experience with multi-language WordPress websites
• Ability to understand business logic and translate it into scalable technical solutions
• Comfortable working with large, custom codebases
• Experience working in structured development environments (Agile or similar workflows)
• English B1+ (documentation in English; internal communication in Ukrainian)
