We are looking for an Engineering Manager, People & Resourcing, to lead the people management and career lifecycle processes for a pod of engineers within IT. This role is responsible for ensuring fair, consistent, and data-driven people decisions, as well as managing staffing changes through established workflows. The Delivery team will remain responsible for project execution.
Responsibilities
- Line-manage a pod of engineers: onboarding touchpoint, coaching, feedback, wellbeing, retention.
- Own key people outcomes for your pod: probation decisions, performance outcomes, role/level changes, promotion readiness.
- Run performance and probation cycles using structured stakeholder feedback and documented evidence; step in directly for escalations and complex cases.
- Own compensation review cases/exceptions for your pod; check internal rate alignment, confirm the change fits current project budget and client terms with the delivery owner, and ensure documentation and terms validation are completed.
- Govern staffing changes for your pod through standard workflows: allocation changes, transfers, bench start/end; proactively surface risks (bench, over-allocation, skill gaps).
Maintain lifecycle hygiene: ensure all changes are recorded in the system of record, follow guardrails, trigger escalation when inputs/approvals are late.
Requirements
- 3+ years in a supervisory role (people management) within engineering, resource operations, or delivery operations in a software/services environment.
- Strong ownership of structured processes: templates, documentation, system-of-record discipline, SLA/escalation handling.
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution; able to run difficult conversations and make fair decisions based on evidence.
- Good understanding of software delivery realities (enough to interpret feedback and assess impact), without requiring hands-on architecture ownership.
- English: B2 or higher โ strong spoken and written communication.
Nice to have: experience with mixed workforce (employees + contractors), staffing/bench management, compensation/promotion cycles and project management.
