Retention Manager (Sportsbook)

We are looking for an ambitious leader who "breathes" sports, understands bettor psychology, and is ready to take ownership of the monetization and engagement of our sportsbook player base across key markets: Italy, Portugal, and the Netherlands.

 

Your Main Mission: To build from scratch or elevate our retention system specifically for "Sports" category players. Your goal is to ensure that a player who places their first bet stays with us long-term, bets more frequently, and generates higher GGR.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategy & Calendar:
    • Develop and maintain an up-to-date sporting events calendar relevant to our target GEOs (local leagues in Italy/Portugal/Netherlands + top global events).
    • Synchronize all retention activities with this calendar to maximize situational marketing.
  • Bonus Policy & Product:
    • Create and implement unique bonus mechanics tailored for sports bettors (freebets, bet insurance, cashbacks on specific leagues, prediction tournaments).
    • Formulate and optimize the Sports Welcome Pack for new players.
  • Communications & CRM:
    • Build automated communication flows (Customer Journeys) for various segments (onboarding, activation, reactivation, VIP).
    • Manage omnichannel campaigns: Email, SMS, WhatsApp, Push notifications, and Web-push.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration:
    • Provide clear briefs to the creative team and copywriters to design banners, landing pages, and emails that truly "hook" sports fans.
    • Sync with the product team to improve the sportsbook product based on player feedback.
  • Analytics & Performance:
    • Continuously analyze the performance of campaigns and database segments.
    • Take responsibility for the steady growth of the sports GGR share in the company's total revenue.

Your Primary KPI: ๐ŸŽฏ Growth in base engagement (Average deposits per sports user).

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience: 3+ years in CRM/Retention within the iGaming sector, strictly with a Sportsbook focus. Experience with Italian, Portuguese, or aggressive international markets (ROW) is a massive plus.
  • Sports Knowledge: You really "know your stuff." You understand the difference between an English Premier League bettor and a table tennis bettor. You know exactly when the Champions League final is and when the Primeira Liga kicks off.
  • Background (Ideal): Experience in large-scale betting companies with aggressive marketing strategies (e.g., 22bet, 1xBet, or similar) โ€” this is exactly the pace and approach we are looking for.
  • Hard Skills: Strong proficiency with CRM tools (customer.io, smartico, etc.), hands-on experience with communication channels (SMS/Email/Messengers), and solid analytical skills (Excel, BI systems).
