Analytics Engineer

Duration: 3 months (with potential extension or conversion)
Reporting to: Director of Data & Analytics

 

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Analytics Engineer to provide immediate coverage and stabilization for our media data infrastructure during a transition period.

In this role, you will act as the primary data architect, responsible for maintaining and improving a complex Google BigQuery environment, ensuring data integrity across multiple marketing data sources, and migrating existing transformation logic into a scalable, transparent analytics framework to support our move toward Omni Analytics.
 

This position is ideal for a hands-on specialist who can quickly understand existing systems, stabilize operations, and bring structure and clarity to legacy data workflows.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain a complex Google BigQuery data environment
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability across multiple sources
  • Manage and validate data ingestion from:
    • Supermetrics
    • APIs
    • Manual vendor files
  • Reverse engineer existing SQL scripts and transformations to:
    • Extract embedded business logic
    • Document assumptions and dependencies
  • Migrate legacy transformations into a scalable, maintainable, and transparent framework
  • Support the transition toward an Omni Analytics architecture
  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Data & Analytics and key stakeholders
  • Apply best practices for version control and collaborative development using Git

Required Skills & Experience

  • Expert BigQuery & SQL
    • Advanced SQL mastery (window functions, UDFs, scripting, query optimization)
    • Strong understanding of GCP and BigQuery performance considerations
  • Marketing Data & AdTech Experience
    • Deep knowledge of advertising data schemas (Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, etc.)
    • Hands-on experience with data ingestion tools such as Supermetrics or Fivetran
  • Problem Solving & Ownership
    • Proven ability to analyze, reverse engineer, and refactor legacy SQL logic
    • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills
  • Version Control & Collaboration
    • Proficiency with Git-based workflows (GitHub, Bitbucket)
       

Nice to Have

  • Experience designing analytics layers or semantic models
  • Familiarity with dbt or similar transformation frameworks
  • Experience working with marketing or media analytics teams
  • Prior involvement in data platform migrations or modernization initiatives
