DevOps Engineer
Here at Master of Code Global, we are expanding our DevOps community of experts and looking for a DevOps specialist to join the team and become a Master!
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and evolve scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure using Terraform.
- Own and continuously improve cloud environments on AWS and/or GCP, ensuring cost efficiency, performance, and security best practices.
- Architect, manage, and optimize Kubernetes clusters (including upgrades, scaling, networking, and security).
- Design and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines, improving deployment speed, reliability, and developer experience.
- Lead the implementation of monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to ensure high system reliability and fast incident response.
- Drive best practices, including secrets management, access control, vulnerability scanning, and compliance requirements.
- Support and optimize containerized and serverless architectures (e.g., AWS ECS Fargate, Google Cloud Run).
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and production issues, acting as an escalation point for critical incidents.
- Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to long-term infrastructure strategy and improvements.
Required background and skills
Experience & Expertise
- 5+ years of experience as a DevOps Engineer or in a similar role.
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS (required), including production-grade environments. Experience with GCP or Azure is a plus
- Solid experience with Terraform best practices: modules, state management (remote state, state locking), multi-environment configurations, code review practices
- Solid experience with Kubernetes (EKS) in production: cluster setup, operations, scaling, security, upgrades
- Knowledge of Kubernetes ecosystem tools: Helm, Karpenter, ALB controller, Cert Manager, External-DNS, Secrets controller
GitOps & Deployment Practices
- Hands-on experience with GitOps workflows and tools (ArgoCD, Flux, or similar)
- Understanding of declarative infrastructure and application delivery
- Experience with deployment strategies: blue-green, canary, rolling updates
CI/CD & Automation
- Proven experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (AWS CodePipeline, GitHub Actions, or similar)
- Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python) for automation tasks
Infrastructure & Security
- Strong knowledge of Docker and container-based architectures
- Experience with AWS networking: VPC design, security groups, load balancers, Route53
- Understanding of security best practices: IAM policies, secrets management (AWS Secrets Manager), network security, least privilege principle
- Experience with serverless technologies: Lambda, Step Functions, API Gateway
Observability
- Experience with monitoring and observability stack: AWS CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK
- Experience setting up alerting, dashboards, and incident response workflows
- Understanding of SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets is a plus
Soft Skills & Leadership
- Experience with incident management
- Ability to mentor junior-level engineers
- Participation in architecture decisions and technical planning
- Excellent communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- English level: Upper-Intermediate or higher
Nice to have skills
- AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer)
- Experience with cost optimization and FinOps practices
- Knowledge of compliance frameworks (SOC2, ISO27001)
