Senior Product Owner

About ArboStar

ArboStar is a B2B SaaS platform built for the tree care / arboriculture industry. We help companies run crews, schedule jobs, estimate work, manage operations, and deliver a smoother customer experience. We’re scaling fast, strengthening product maturity, and pushing into adjacent “green industry” categories.

This role is for someone who can own delivery + outcomes, not just “manage tickets.”

Why this role exists

We need a senior Product Owner who can:

  • take real ownership of product outcomes
  • run the product delivery machine (discovery → scope → build → ship → measure)
  • build structure, clarity, and priority discipline across teams
  • grow into Head of Product / CPO responsibilities within months

You’ll work directly with the CEO and engineering leadership.

What you’ll own

1) Product Ownership and Delivery (Core)

  • Own one or more key product areas end-to-end (e.g., Scheduling, CRM, Estimating, Work Orders, Invoicing, Reporting/KPIs, Mobile, Integrations).
  • Maintain a healthy, prioritized backlog that engineers actually trust.
  • Write high-quality PRDs/user stories with acceptance criteria, edge cases, and measurable success metrics.
  • Run sprint ceremonies and keep delivery tight: refinement, planning, demos, retros.
  • Ensure releases are coordinated with QA, support, implementation, and customer comms.

2) Discovery That Doesn’t Waste Everyone’s Time

  • Run customer discovery continuously: interviews, support analysis, win/loss feedback, churn reasons, implementation pain points.
  • Convert “noise” into clear problem statements and validated solutions.
  • Work closely with Customer Success/Implementation to reduce onboarding friction and support burden.

3) Cross-functional Leadership (No Ego, All Results)

  • Align stakeholders across Engineering, QA, Support, Sales, Marketing, Implementation, and Ops.
  • Make hard priority calls and explain the tradeoffs like an adult.
  • Drive product decisions with data + customer truth, not vibes.

4) Product Ops and Process Maturity (CPO Track)

  • Implement product operating cadence: roadmap reviews, quarterly planning, release process, metrics dashboards.
  • Set product standards: definition of ready/done, documentation templates, discovery playbooks, decision logs.
  • Introduce scalable structure without killing speed.

5) Metrics and Outcomes

  • Define and monitor KPIs for your product areas:
    • activation/onboarding success
    • retention and churn drivers
    • feature adoption
    • time-to-value
    • support ticket volume reduction
    • operational efficiency improvements for customers (time saved, fewer mistakes, faster scheduling, fewer re-visits)
  • Use telemetry and feedback loops to verify impact after launch.

Required experience

  • 5–10+ years in Product roles (PO/PM), with at least 3+ years as a senior owner of a B2B SaaS product area.
  • Proven record shipping complex workflows (ops-heavy SaaS is a big plus).
  • Strong ability to translate messy real-world operations into usable software.
  • Excellent writing and specs: PRDs, stories, acceptance criteria, edge cases.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and can make decisions without needing permission every 12 minutes.
  • C1 English proficiency
  • Ukrainian Native language

Strongly preferred

  • Experience with field-service platforms: tree care, landscaping, construction, home services, logistics, dispatch, route scheduling, job costing, invoicing.
  • Experience with multi-tenant SaaS scaling: permissions, roles, audit trails, data imports, integrations (QuickBooks, payment processors, CRMs).
  • Experience creating product analytics baselines and post-launch measurement.
  • Experience working with outsourced or distributed engineering teams.

Skills and traits (aka the part most people ignore)

  • You are decisive and can defend priorities with logic + evidence.
  • You’re allergic to fake “Agile theater.”
  • You communicate clearly with technical and non-technical people.
  • You can say “no” without creating enemies.
  • You care about outcomes more than output.

Tools / working style

  • Jira/Confluence (or equivalent)
  • Product analytics (Amplitude/Mixpanel/PostHog or similar)
  • Figma (basic competency helpful)
  • You write clean documentation and keep the team aligned
