Editorial and Brand Designer (Project Based)

THE MISSION

A new high-stakes strategic physical and digital publication is in development. We are building an intelligence product designed for the architects of the European future.

 

Moving away from the polished tropes of the previous decade, our aesthetic is Rugged Elegance: utilitarian, authoritative, and sophisticated. We are seeking a designer to establish the visual language for a project that prioritises strategic depth and material reality.

 

SCOPE OF WORK

This engagement is focused on the initial development of the brand's visual identity and its digital dissemination channels. While this phase primarily addresses foundational architecture, there exists the potential for an extension into the production of the inaugural print publication ("Issue Zero").

 

Key Deliverables:

  • Brand Identity & Style Guide: Design of the masthead, typographic systems, color palettes, and a proprietary iconography set (focusing on diplomacy, technology, and infrastructure).
  • Newsletter Framework: Development of high-fidelity templates for digital briefings, optimized for dense information and multi-platform legibility.
  • Podcast Visuals: Creation of a visual identity for an associated audio series, including cover art and social collateral.
  • Publication Prototype: Development of a structural design framework and grid system for a quarterly print journal (mockup/prototype only).
  • Digital Assets: Provision of design components for social intelligence channels and specialized landing pages.

     

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Residency: Candidates must be FOP. We are committed to collaborating with the frontline of European resilience.
  • Portfolio: A comprehensive portfolio (Behance, Adobe Portfolio, or equivalent) demonstrating excellence in typographic systems and editorial design is mandatory.
  • Experience: A proven track record in high-end brand development or editorial design for major reports/publications.
  • Technical Proficiency: Expert knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop).
  • Communication: Professional proficiency in English is required for all project collaborative efforts.
  • BYOD: We expect the successful candidate to manage their own technology and subscription requirements. 

 

TERMS & CONFIDENTIALITY

  • Remuneration: This is a fixed-price or capped T&M project engagement for Phase 1. 
  • NDA: Due to the strategic nature of the content, the successful candidate must execute a formal Confidentiality Undertaking (NDA) prior to the disclosure of the full project brief and brand identifiers.
