Position Summary
We are seeking a Business Intelligence Architect & Engineer to design, build, and operate a modern analytics platform based on Microsoft Fabric, fully integrated with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and other enterprise systems.
This role combines BI architecture, data engineering, and analytics development. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining the end-to-end BI architecture, configuring and operating Microsoft Fabric, building reliable data pipelines from ERP and operational systems, and delivering high-quality Power BI reporting across all core business domains including:
- Manufacturing & production planning
- Procurement & purchasing
- Sales & CRM
- Finance & controlling
- Logistics, inventory, and fulfillment
This role is strategic and hands-on, directly supporting executive management, operations, and finance with reliable, real-time, and decision-grade data.
Key Responsibilities
1. BI Architecture & Platform Design
- Design and maintain the overall BI and analytics architecture using Microsoft Fabric.
- Define data domains, data models, and semantic layers aligned with ERP and business processes.
- Establish best practices for data governance, security, performance, and scalability.
- Define standards for naming, documentation, versioning, and deployment.
2. Microsoft Fabric Configuration & Operations
- Set up and configure Microsoft Fabric components (Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Factory, Notebooks, Real-Time Analytics, Semantic Models).
- Manage workspaces, capacity, access control, and environment separation (dev / test / prod).
- Monitor performance, cost, and data refresh reliability.
- Implement backup, recovery, and data retention strategies.
3. Data Integration & Engineering
- Build and maintain data pipelines from Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and other ERP/operational systems.
- Design ingestion patterns (batch, incremental, near-real-time where applicable).
- Transform and model data into analytics-ready structures (facts, dimensions, star/snowflake schemas).
- Implement data quality checks, validation rules, and reconciliation with ERP figures.
4. ERP-Wide Analytics & Power BI Development
- Develop Power BI datasets, semantic models, and dashboards for:
- Manufacturing & production planning
- Procurement and supplier performance
- Sales performance and forecasting
- Financial reporting (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, controlling)
- Logistics, inventory, and fulfillment
- Ensure consistency between operational reports and financial/management reporting.
- Implement row-level security (RLS) and role-based access control.
- Optimize Power BI models for performance and usability.
5. Business Partnering & Requirements Translation
- Work closely with finance, operations, sales, and management teams to understand reporting needs.
- Translate business questions into data models, KPIs, and analytics solutions.
- Proactively propose new insights, metrics, and dashboards that improve decision-making.
6. Governance, Documentation & Enablement
- Document data models, pipelines, KPIs, and business logic.
- Define KPI definitions and ensure company-wide metric consistency.
- Support user training and analytics adoption.
- Establish a foundation for future self-service BI.
Required Qualifications
Technical Skills
- Strong experience with Microsoft Fabric (or deep experience with Azure Synapse + Data Factory + Power BI and readiness to move to Fabric).
- Strong experience with Power BI (data modeling, DAX, performance tuning, RLS).
- Experience integrating Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or similar ERP systems.
- Solid SQL skills and data modeling expertise.
- Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines and managing data lakes/warehouses.
- Understanding of star schema, fact/dimension modeling, and KPI frameworks.
Business & Domain Knowledge
Good understanding of ERP processes, especially:
- Finance & controlling
- Sales & purchasing
- Inventory & logistics
- Manufacturing or production planning (a strong plus)

- Experience with Azure (Data Lake, Synapse, Logic Apps, Functions).
- Experience with Git / CI-CD for BI or data engineering.

- Experience in multi-company or multi-entity ERP reporting environments.
