Role Overview
We are looking for a Manual QA Engineer with 3+ years of experience to take ownership of quality across the Iris Finance product.
This is our first dedicated QA role. You will not just execute test cases - you will help define how manual QA is done at Iris, working closely with Product and Engineering to ensure releases are stable, predictable, and well-tested. This role is hands-on, collaborative, and impact-driven.
What You Will Do
- Own manual testing for new features, improvements, and bug fixes
Validate complex user workflows, including:- Data ingestion and connector setup
- Metrics configuration, overrides, and calculations
- Time-based grouping (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly)
- Forecasting and reporting views
- Design, document, and maintain:
- Test cases
- Test scenarios
- Regression checklists
- Perform data validation using SQL, including querying PostgreSQL tables to verify data accuracy, comparing UI results with source data, validating aggregations, calculations, and edge cases
- Perform exploratory testing to uncover edge cases and data issues
- Verify UI/UX consistency across browsers and screen sizes
- Validate API responses and data correctness where relevant
- Report bugs with clear reproduction steps, expected vs actual results, and supporting evidence
- Collaborate closely with:
- Product on requirements clarity
- Engineering on defect triage and release readiness
- Support release sign-off and post-release verification
Required Skills & Experience
- 3+ years of experience in manual QA for web applications
- Strong experience testing: data-heavy and user-facing web interfaces
- Experience testing systems built as modular backends rather than isolated microservices
- Solid understanding of:
- Web application behavior
- REST APIs (basic validation and inspection)
- Cross-browser testing
- Proven ability to write clear, structured test cases and to produce high-quality bug reports
- Comfortable working in evolving, fast-moving product environments
- Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking
Nice to Have
- Experience with financial, analytics, or reporting platforms
- Basic SQL knowledge (read-only queries, data verification)
- Familiarity with React-based frontends
- Exposure to PostgreSQL or similar relational databases
- Experience working in early-stage or startup environments
