Ruby on Rails Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Ruby on Rails Engineer to join a product-driven team working on scalable web applications with a strong focus on performance, clean architecture, and business impact. The role involves building and maintaining backend services, integrating third-party systems, and collaborating closely with frontend and product teams.

• Language Requirements: English – Upper-Intermediate or higher
• Time Zone Overlap: At least 2–3 hours with CET / US time zones

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and scale backend services using Ruby on Rails
• Design and implement RESTful APIs and backend business logic
• Work with relational databases, ensuring performance and data integrity
• Integrate third-party services (payments, marketplaces, external APIs)
• Collaborate with frontend developers, product managers, and QA
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
• Participate in code reviews and architectural discussions

Requirements

• 4+ years of commercial experience with Ruby on Rails
• Strong understanding of MVC architecture and Rails ecosystem
• Experience with PostgreSQL / MySQL
• Solid knowledge of REST APIs and background jobs (Sidekiq or similar)
• Familiarity with Git and modern development workflows
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
• Ability to work independently in a remote setup

Nice to Have

• Experience with Hotwire / Turbo / Stimulus
• Background in marketplace or e-commerce platforms
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS / GCP)
• Knowledge of Docker and CI/CD pipelines
• Basic frontend skills (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
