Backend Developer (PHP)

We’re looking for a PHP Backend Developer to join a Swiss IT company that creates and grows digital products as a long-term partner, not a vendor. The company develops and maintains complex platforms across aviation, finance, B2B commerce, and recruitment, with all engineering done internally to ensure clear ownership, fast feedback, and high technical quality.

👉Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of commercial experience with PHP
• Experience with Symfony, Slim, or other PHP frameworks
• At least 3 years of experience working with Linux environments
• Experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL
• Experience with message brokers (RabbitMQ or similar)
• Understanding of backend architecture and system integration
• Experience working with Git and participating in code reviews (GitLab preferred)
• English proficiency sufficient for daily communication with colleagues and project managers

✨Nice to Have

• Commercial experience with Golang
• Experience with Elasticsearch or other full-text search solutions
• Familiarity with configuration management tools such as SaltStack or Vagrant
• Understanding of frontend tasks, tools, and collaboration workflows
• Experience or strong interest in AI-related solutions

👉Responsibilities

• Participate in architectural discussions and decisions together with the team
• Write, adapt, and maintain backend code using appropriate technologies and frameworks
• Develop automated tests and follow TDD practices
• Improve and optimize interactions with databases
• Build and maintain system components using RabbitMQ
• Configure and maintain full-text search solutions
• Configure Linux virtual servers and diagnose production issues
• Participate in code reviews and maintain code quality using GitLab
• Create and maintain clear and up-to-date API documentation
• Collaborate closely with frontend developers to find optimal technical solutions
